Hello Ubisoft,
I just got done playing both the closed beta and the open beta.
First I wanted to state, outright, that I really enjoyed both. I had a great time playing Wildlands and getting lost in the world your team created.
I have 2 concerns with the game as it stands:
1. The cover and movement system needs some work.
I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to throw my controller at the TV when my character latched to cover and would not switch directions. Instead of flipping around to the right when I wanted to move right, or vice versa, the character would back up, buttocks facing the direction I wanted to go. This was frustrating for a few reasons. First it makes it almost impossible to tactically combat anyone inside small buildings. When I am trying to peek around a corner and I am using my character's butt to attack the enemy, I am sure you know what the end result was, death. Furthermore, when your character cannot reverse directions, it makes shooting over cover very problematic, because often time you have to stick your rear end out past cover in order to get your character in the proper position to get the shot off. This was all very confusing, and completely baffling, as I was unsure how this cover system passed initial testing.
Next, the aim box, or aim indicator, located in the center of the screen does not really line up with the cover system. Often times I have been behind cover, and my sight indicator shows, that when I pop up, I am aimed at a target, only to press the trigger and be staring at a brick wall. Not sure if this is a glitch, where the character does not properly pop over cover, or if the game mechanic itself is just poorly constructed.
Lastly, I find the lack of a dodge or roll to be bothersome. It is a bit difficult to get out of the way of grenades quickly, even when they are noticed. I would like to be able to jump out of the way like a lot of the NPCs do, but, alas, I cannot. This is not a deal breaker, but it is also something I find baffling. I am baffled as to why that would not be in the game when it is in other Tom Clancy games, like The Division.
2. The moon - HUH?
Something looks completely off and wrong with the moon in the game. I am not sure which cycle of the moon is the one where it looks like it is popping out of a book. I do not think there is one.
I hope this is not harsh. I had a blast playing through both betas. I could not really find anything else I didn't like.
