PvP dominion WITHOUT gear stats is anti MT?
I do not think leveled gear is OP. I do not think this game is pay to win. BUT I don't see what's wrong with letting skill be the ONLY determining factor in a fight.
So, I'm like, old. Multiplayer games used to have equal starts. These days it's perks, gear, bells, whistles... I could have sworn when the devs first announced this game they said that gear would be cosmetic only and I thought that was very refreshing.
Now I know a lot of people love tweaking gear stats and I'm not suggesting that be taken away. I am, however, asking for a dominion game mode without gear stats that I'm surprised wasn't included at launch. Such a mode being withheld from the game seems deliberate. Almost as though purely cosmetic gear wouldn't motivate as many people to make in-game purchases.
Now hear me out. This isn't an anti-microtransaction rant. Most games these days sell for $60 and I remember buying Donkey Kong Country in 1994 for $55. So yeah, I understand that gamers' unwillingness to pay more than $60 for a game means that profits have to be made by other means and at times I'm even willing to pay for some mt's. But a $60 multiplayer game with a season pass? And we don't even have dedicated servers?
You're a business and your #1 priority is profit--we get it. But meet us half way. The game itself is a brilliant foundation, but the service hasn't been so great. I'd be willing to buy into your microtransactions if I felt like that money was being used to improve/maintain the state of the game, but P2P servers and flawed matchmaking make this a very one-sided relationship between you and the customers you service. You see, when I bought Donkey Kong Country back in 1994 It was a much simpler transaction. I exchanged money for a product. But with this game I exchanged money for a product that requires constant service from you, Ubisoft. I'm ok purchasing steel to fund this service, but let's be real: P2P is your way of outsourcing this service to the very people who need it.
Am I just a rambling, crazy cane-waver, or does anyone else feel the same way?
