Something I've noticed a bit from prestige 3-5 people, is that they do a jump attack and feint mid-air?

Especially Kensei players, but noticed it in a few others. Where you can see them literally get off the ground, then feint , somehow get back on the ground and attack from a different direction.

Is that how it should be? I can't understand how you can suddenly fly back down onto the ground from mid-air..
