so what does the shield exactly do for the valk defense wise?
assasins can block, parry and deflect just as good as valks... only difference is the all-block which is RARLY benefical for the valk due to how it is triggered.

even wardens and lawbringers who barely move while dodging can still avoid most **** easier than valks...
it just makes no sense to me.

it feels like valks i-frames are different for no reason.

just go into custom game with a lvl 3 bot and test it yourself

Mood point. The valkyrie is an assassin/heavy hybrid and she has class specific attacks linked to dodges, so yes, she needs to be able to dodge despite having a shield.
And if by "defense" you mean the statistic, then no. Her "defense" is very low. She takes a ton of damage.

    On point:
I find dodging with her to be fairly responsive tbh. I easilly dodge incomming attacks. The problem is timing the dodge to get that parry effect, so you can do a shoulder pin. That window is far FAR more narrow than a regular dodge.

My main concerne about her is still the very low recovery she has from attacking and defending. She is perhaps the slowest class to recover from anything except moving.
Really hoping the buff to light attack recovery effects this aswell.

She's more an assassin than everything else. Her moveset AND her defense ist just like an assasin with a shield. She takes tons of damage, thats right.

Her Dodge window is really hard to use.. Her "signature move" is the deflect, but you wont see a valk using it, because its harder to use than deflect for orochi. and u dont see an orochi deflecting, because its also difficult to perform and low reward.

In my opinion all deflect timings feel a bit bad. Its not the same timing as parry..

This. Sometimes u GB someone or use the sweep and need about 3 seconds to perform a ****ing light attack. Like yea.. wtf?

this is what im talking about. im not even talking about deflects, just her normal dodge...

i can dodge almost anything with any class without having to pay much attention to timing the dodge, it just works ... but not with valkyrie. for some reason her dodge is off.
im not saying its broken, but its off enough to not feel responsive and reliable enough to be used.

i'm going to make some videos to better show what i mean today or tomorrow.

Im more concerned about the recovery after everything. Yes even after the dodge it seems it takes way more time than with anything else.
Also the shield tackle trigger move is a joke. As you jump backwards you can and will be guard breaked. It seems to me that at the moment the valk got all the negatives from the assasins and heavies with some cc capability which he cant use as leg sweep.is easily dodgeable by all except another valk for sure. The situation will be improved after the patch hits as hopefully assasins wont dodge out from your light chains.

Except for dodge counter that shoulder pin requires, right?

valks are assassin/heavy hybrid. compairing her to LB or nobushi isn't good comparison since LB is vanguard/heavy hybrid and nobushi is vanguard/assassin hybrid. a better comparison is to the assassin/heavy classes in the game.

    valks have
the defense and HP of an assassin and the dash capabilities, and stance change time of a heavy.

the only real benefit she gets from her heavy side is the shield bash and always having a stance up.

only real benefit from assassin she gets is the deflect/shoulder pin(which isn't even guaranteed when you block during the dash)

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or even helpful, but she has an option select with her doge/shoulder pin. When you do the doge press both light and heavy. If you doge you get your regular attack, hunters strike(?) if you deflect you get the shoulder pin. Sorry if that was a bit off topic.

Sheild bash cancel into guard break

I have no problem executing the dodges and shoulder pin. The REAL issue with her is the shoulder charge cancel into guardbreak. PLEASE PLEASE UBISOFT FIX THIS.

The staggering effect for valk after being hit is noticeable. Especially against conqs, spamming shoulder ram heavy ram. I know another ram is coming so im spamming a dodge left/right, but valk does it about 50% of the time.

    Same with Warden.
