1- Don't spend your money or Scavenge Boxes to buy gears or Upgrade it till prestige (3).

2-save your money and Scavenge Boxes you will need it to buy gears and upgrade it in prestige (3)

3-before prestige (3) gears will not make difference.

Actually, at prestige 3 you get purples at level 13. At prestige 4 I believe they are 14 I think.

Of course, I've also read somewhere if you wait to prestige 9, all the purples you get will be maxed out and you won't have to upgrade them, saving you steel. Dunno if that is true or not though.

If you've got the purple fever, open at 3. If you want to min/max your steel, patience grasshopper.
