Hi, just wanted to share my thoughts after 20 odd hours with the game.
- I really enjoyed the character of Apollyon. I was a little disappointed that you didn't explore her being a demon or such, as I got the impression that was where the story was heading. Still, overall I enjoyed the story mode more than I expected. Kind of a shame it was an after thought really, as I do think an open world story within this IP could have been great fun.
- The lack of dedicated servers is horrific. Getting stuck in lobbies quite often. Matchmaking is broken, and I keep getting into teams with very low gear scores, versus opposing teams who are decked out in higher gear. Nearly every match someone leaves, and the game completely freezes for several seconds. Its beyond frustrating. Whats even worse is quitters, whom when they are losing a duel jump out the match. There needs to be stronger punishments against this kind of behaviour, especially when they are immediately replaced by a bot with a refilled health bar. Harsh.
- The classes seem utterly unbalanced to me. Two hander users seem to be able to quick attack as fast as the smaller weapon wielders. The Heavies charge is ridiculously overpowered. Shield wielders seem to have far too easy of a time blocking attacks, and it frustrates me no end fighting them as the stamina bar exhausts after only a few hits. At times I wonder how complex the fighting system actually is, as just mashing all the buttons seems to win some duels.
- Speaking of stamina, I would really argue for its removal. In my view it hurts the combat, as you spend a lot of time dodge rolling or walking backwards, rather an actually fighting. Guard break still makes a mockery of even having a guard system too.
- People running away mid duel is frustrating as well. If they are low on health, I would argue that they need a debuff to slow their running speed as again people are not fully engaging in duels.
- Customisation is still sorely lacking. Why am I forced into having three colours each time? I want one colour for each slot. Why do we have to be orange or blue? I'd actually prefer if our team mates stayed blue in the UI all the time, and enemies orange - as it often confuses me early in the game with changing colour all of the time. I want my character's armour colours to be what I want them to be, not some arbitrary colour that is easily ascertained from the UI itself.
- The Faction War is badly represented. I was expecting factions to be restricted in battles, so you would literally have Samurai versus Knights etc. Mixing them all together every game just takes away from it all, and honestly the map in its current version is a confusing mess, especially as what you add Assets wise seems to not make a blind bit of difference. It just looks completely random to me.
- Long term engagement is a serious issue. After 20 hours, I'm really bored of the very few game modes. Where is the ranked mode? Although there are 12 classes, lets be honest here and say that you technically have only 4 true archetypes. I just don't think it is enough, and grinding out reputation for just a few new cosmetic looks is really not interesting enough for me. I did not purchase the Season Pass for this reason. That being said, its a unique game and I will not be selling it just yet, but I will watch what you add and decide whether to return at a future point.
