How to kill a roach (Quick Guide)

I want to start by saying the Orochi doesn't need a nerf. The Orochi punishes overly aggressive fighters and does so effectively. I made two posts asking for advice on how to kill Orochi and you all were very helpful with your advice. After Practicing the advice given I have fought about 10 Orochi higher than 2 rep with little problem. These are the tips I found helped me the most:

    1. Learn to counter guard break. An Orochi heavy top attack deals 35 damage and is their most damaging attack which they can cast for free after a successful guard break. If they learn you can't stop their most powerful attack, you are already dead.

    2. Learn the Zephyr Slash and Storm Rush. Zephyr Slash is the quick dodging attack that gets a lot of hate. Just remember it comes from the opposite direction they are moving and be ready to parry and follow up. Storm Rush is the easiest move in the game to block because it always comes from the side the sword is on and the stance is very unique. Orochi can feint this into a guard break so try to get out of range rather than stand there and take the block.

    3. Learn defensive maneuvers. Block the light attacks and parry the side dodge attacks. I like to dash forward at them and bait a side Zephyr Strike followed by a parry.

    4. Learn your fastest attack. You wont have much time to punish an Orochi mistake so make sure you know your quickest follow up. I've found that light attacks after a parry or guard break counter are good sources of free damage.

    5. Learn a reliable feint. If your Orochi is refusing to make the first move and won't fall for your forward dash bait you are basically in a staring contest. If you are close to them feint a heavy attack and guard break them as soon as they dodge. If you have distance feint a heavy and be ready to parry.

    6. Fight in confined spaces. Orochi don't have a lot of range but they do need a some room to breath for Zephyr Strike to be effective. I like fighting them in hallways or close to walls.

    7. Rest your guard top. The Orochi has a very fast top light attack. Don't let it catch you off guard, often when I get hit once it turns into a downward spiral of me panicking and taking another few attack before I can regain my composure. Keeping your guard top prevents that from happening.

    8. Push the advantage. Most Orochis rely on dodging and rarely block, use this to build momentum. If you land a light quick after a parry or counter guard break, go for another or link it into a feinted heavy for a free guard break.

    9. Fight a level 3 bot. The great thing about bots is you don't have to kill them in the end. focus on staying alive as long as possible and parry the side dodges. Learn how much time you have between a parry and a counter guard break. Bots usually block whatever they physically can so if you can find a consistent opening with them, odds are a player will have the same weakness. This will also help with guard break counter and parry timing.

    10. Befriend a good Orochi. Fighting round after round after round against a living breathing master of the class is the fastest way to improve. Use the looking for group forum here or message the one in 1v1 that killed you without getting hit. If you can't find a consistent partner always try to rematch them in the wild.

These are my original threads that helped so so much in case I missed anything and to give everyone the credit they deserve.

As you can probably tell I HAD a lot of hate for the Orochi. Through this process I have learned to love them as a class and have a lot of respect for their kit. They really embody the counter attack philosophy and keep the game from being a wild world of button mashing aggressors. For that I would like to say thank you. Every class in this game plays a very important role and once we identify those roles we wont have as much demand for change and can develop a desire for understanding.

Please add anything I forgot and correct my mistakes. Insults are welcome and encouraged.

Orochi needs a buff... That's the more logical and correct analysis.

Could you explain your thinking for me? I'm not disagreeing, I would just like to hear what you think could use a buff exactly.
