Platform: Xbox One
For the last coupe months I have been playing alot of Watch Dogs (2014) and despite it being 3 years old it has superior, physics, controls, animations, Audio and visuals.
As someone who is a fan of Ghost Recon and open world shooters, this open beta has disappointed in a big way. Many elements feel extremely buggy and give the impression of a game from last gen. Compared to the competition this game is very much lacking in the fine details and polish to make it even enjoyable, let alone a success. It should be delayed for improvements or else it will review poorly. Some of my observations:
PRO
+Character customization is great, and you can really have fun with all the different options for the tactical gear
+Bullet drop is a nice addition
+Enemies are not bullet sponges like in some other games
+Large open world map
CONS
-You cannot customize the gear of your AI teammates! You always look like the odd man out, you never look like part of a team. This defeats the purpose
-Some clothing items do not have all the different colours patterns available. Every piece of gear should have every colour option available for player choice without restrictions
-AUDIO MIX NEEDS A LOT OF WORK; the gunshots and explosions are very flat and muted sounding, nothing has any bass or midrange punch to it. I am using a high end surround sound system and the audio in this game is very poor compared to other Ubisoft titles. Gunshots and explosions should be very loud and violent
-Enemy bodies disappear instantly and do not show bullet wounds on character model when hit
-Downed enemies cannot be interacted with (shooting them does nothing and we cannot drag bodies)
-Command system for your AI team needs tweaking. Consider the Rainbow Six Vegas system where simply tapping the same button alternates between 'regroup' and 'hold position', and holding it down and releasing it sends your team to move to the highlighted location. This is more intuitive and makes the command system less clunky. Brothers In Arms also had a very good, intuitive command system. These are both Ubisoft titles from many years ago that are superior
-Very poor draw distance and texture pop in
-Poor and low resolution textures in many areas that look like a last gen release
-PHYSICS ENGINE NEEDS A LOT OF WORK; NPC and enemies reactions to gunshots, explosions, vehicles and terrain is very poor compared to the competition and compared to older Ubisoft titles. Physics engine feels like something from 2006-2007
-Very poor character models and animations on NPCs compared to older Ubisoft titles
-HUD should fade away when not in use and pop back in when needed to keep screen less cluttered
-NO INTERACTIVE ENVIRONMENTS; everything feels very static and nonreactive, no physics on many in world objects, zero destructible environments, compared to a game like Far Cry 2 (2008) or other competitors this is nowhere near that quality
-Areas feel empty and unpopulated
-Lack of mission variety!
-Enemy AI is poor, they simply rush towards you without any tactics or use of cover
-Gun fights lack tension
-Enemies cannot see AI teammates and do not react to them! They are invisible
-Cannot switch teammates from combat to stealth mode (fire only when fired upon) like in Rainbow Six Vegas
-FIX THE COVER SYSTEM; either have a cover system we can enter with a button prompt or none at all
-Camera keeps switching from right to left over the shoulder
-Vehicle physics do not feel realistic on the road
-Entering vehicles does not automatically go to driver seat in single player
-No friendly fire on AI teammates
-All audio sounds like it is coming from very far away except for in game radios and friendly AI chatter
-In game radios sound like they are all around you and hard to locate source of the radio sounds, annoying
I hope someone from Ubisoft can see this and can pass these observations to the development team. I was very hyped for this game but the open beta is not delivering the full potential. Thanks for your time!
Thanks but 'sir' is not needed I'm not an officer!![]()
Yes it is repetitive, but people said the same thing about Far Cry 2. But with FC2, the gameplay and controls were so TIGHT, and the whole feel of the game and core gameplay elements were so spot on I could replay it a hundred times even if it was repetitive because the repetition was still fun! But this game doesn't have that same FEEL for me. It's buggy and clunky, and floaty. There's no impact or weight to anything, I know that sounds vague but it's what I experienced.
I think the really flat audio and almost non existent physics engine are deal breakers for me. It's supposed to be a AAA game but bargain-bin developers like Rebellion have gone from discount games to excellent released like the Sniper Elite series.... Compare this to Sniper Elite, no contest which one has the better gameplay feel and refinement.
This feels like a user made mod.
LOL these people think their opinion is more valuable since they are "SOLDIERS" hahaha .I have seen this so many times, seems like every time some soldier has chance to mention how he SERVED ... he MUST MENTION IT;D;D... its funny i have more respect for scientist or engineer, doctor, policeman then soldier. Feedback is ok bud the thread title....
No hate bud i have seen this so many times, everywhere. There are some points i agree with expecially physics, bud to your graphics point , i disagree have you run everything on maxed? ULTRA? it looks amazing, and textures are pretty damn good together with shaders, light systems.
I agree with every topic you have stated here! And will like t o add on it...
- The only way to interact with the world in this game, its to shoot.. and that becomes really stale fast, when the world is this big.. take a look at the Wichter 3, and se what they did when you as a player found a new settlement.. Have more ways to do things in this game.. This i probably to late.. but the world around the player feels dead, because we cant talk to npc or interact i anyway with the world without shooting at it..
- Maybe you all should have taking the time to ask yourself, why the hell does the your game world need to be this big? when 70 or maybe 90% are empty space? and that also brings it back to my first point, its the repeat system here, go to a, kill 10 guys rinse and repeat, and move then to objective b.
- yeah the audio needs fixing asap.. and it would be nice, to a have an option to turn off the radio chatter in the menu.. its simply not good,..
- the Character customization is good, but what use does it have? the suits and all, does it make a difference in the game, no... so you spent time, making backpacks, vest etc. that have ZERO use in the game.. make them useful the game, armor plates, backpacks could determent how much ammo you could carry and so one.. Right now, their is zero use for suits, camo, hats, vets.. so in my mind its a wasteful use of development time.. but i know people would like to stand out...
- The guns, when we can pick up weapons of dead npc, we should be able to keep them, and modified it, it does not make any sense, the way it is now..
- In higher difficulties it would be nice, not to have sooo many ammo cache lying around, so meta game comes in, when we need to save ammo etc... they are every where!
- have the option when solo, to make the companions shut op..
- the constant re spawn of enemies in camps i already cleared, needs to go.. or at least let the SAM sites be destroyed... if the player wants the camps refill with tangoes let it be a option for every "border".like the replay of missions.. when a camp is cleared, the rebels moves in.. that way, it feels like a progression is happening.
- the control menu of squads and rebel, is wonkey at best..
- the buddies of your squad should be able to drive to a waypoint, where player could be the gunner.. atlest they could follow what ever road that lead to it..
- the overall feel of deployment of grenades, c4, mines etc. just feels wrong,
- the physics, driving, flying need a complete overhaul, with a more fluent controls and feel to it..
- in a world with mountains and high buildings, i can not understand why there is not a robe mechanic in it..
- overall yeah the game is fun with some buddies.. but the lack, and poor selections of interactions in the game world, makes it feel very outdated.. Its feels like, you are just gonna go "HUGH", and thats it.. the overall art is great, and the landscapes are beautiful, but when the core aspect like gunplay, ai, and really bad driving and flying mechanics, then it does not matter how big the world is..
so that brings me to the "open beta" its not a beta, you probably already gone gold (at least for consoles Be honest about it Ubisoft Paris), you should have release the closed beta maybe back in December, and then the open one last month, then i personally could believe you had a chance of fixing the ai, driving, flying etc before launch, and maybe had a chance of implementing some of the top ideas the community had, after trying the game out for them selves...
ps sorry for my bad english gramma.. not a native speaker...
wtf? did i play a other game? you call this character creation good? omg console players have rly low standards ....Originally Posted by JCRF1 Go to original post
I thought it was good, there was a wide selection of different tactical vests and backpacks that people use in the real world. The problem is that you can't change the gear of your AI teammates and some clothing items don't have all the colours and patterns options available which makes no sense!Originally Posted by Lolololomaster Go to original post
Compared to the division, this is like picking gear in the matrix.Originally Posted by Lolololomaster Go to original post
Have to ask the op.. what difficulty are playing on? On extreme with just human players guns fights can have a lot of tension as your don't have your own hyper powerful ai that seem to be immune to damage and have insane accuracy.. if your playing with just humans on extreme fire fights can have a lot of tension when at close range... I found solo though if you use AI squad mates.. they be come almost a crutch as they are way more effective then human players when it comes to killing target.. as they seem to never miss a shot.
Also I'm playing on a One and have no idea what these "low rez textures" your talking about...
Sounds seem fine on head sets.. using TV speakers? if so they I could see needing a little more bass to the shots and explosions.
The AI can drive that's why you need to go to the right door to be the driver....
The controls I agree with need some changing.. the switch between using and putting away the M320 is clunky as well as squad command can be a tad clumsy.
They also need to add away to drag wounded comrades out of the line of fire so you can give them medical aid...
The AI does need some work.. a buddy cover system where one shoots to suppress where they think you are and one to move to flank you would be nice. Also on extreme there accuracy while running needs to be toned down while there reaction time when spotting you needs to be increased.
