Okay, so pretty much every death i have ever had in this game has come down to this one aspect of combat.
Let me paint a picture, you are fighting someone in melee range who has a baseball bat. What is the best way to deal with this? They wind up for an over the shoulder vertical heavy swing, what do you do? My first instinct will always be to come in close and go for the gut. Get inside that things range.
This is basically my issue that keeps happening. Whenever someone is up in my grill, and they go for a heavy strike, my instinct is to go for a guard break, because my instinct tells me to "check" them for doing such a slow and vulnerable attack. But, alas, every time I do, my character just runs into there body and does nothing to stop their swing and I eat a mace/sword/axe for din din.
Please fix this, this is just so backwards to me.
Basically, I think guard break should be able to interrupt the windup of a heavy attack from any class, not the whole strike, just the windup. Though, i can imagine the heavy classes should probably have an extra defense to this, especially fat samurai.
Small other request: The how to play practice vs bots is great for practicing timing their attacks. But why make it only a few classes? Please allow the ability to select bots of all classes for this mode. playing in custom duels is sooooooo slow in comparison.
I have literally had situations where I start a guard break, and then they start a heavy attack, and my guardbreak does nothing.Originally Posted by Sicon112 Go to original post
I have also had situations where I start a guard break immediately after they start a heavy attack, still nothing.
So if this truly is a thing, it needs to be fixed, the window widened.
It's basically because the first few frames of a heavy attack count as a parry, and like many other non-attack animations being guardbroken during a parry makes it impossible to counter. The best way to use this is to feint a heavy and then immediately GB.Originally Posted by thedudeman4078 Go to original post
I'd agree that a guard break should at least interrupt a heavy attack. But then again, I've pressed guard break plenty of times before the opponent has started anything on screen (atttacks and their own guard breaks) and my character just jerks forward to guard break, does nothing and then immediately gets hit with something. Obviously lag, but very frustrating. If lag was going to cause such issues, the combat should probably have been slowed down oversll to account for it.
