Okay, items are a problem now

Orochi's hitting like trucks with heroic gear. from 15 to 17 damage a light attack to 27 to 30 damage and 60 damage heavy attacks. literally dead in 2 combos.

    noticing that aswell.
    i cant understand the matchmaking.
it matches me with people that are rep 3-9, with me having an overall rep of 3 at the moment: that is 3 heros at rep 1, not even one hero at 3. and i get matched with guys having their hero at 3-9 rep?!

It is not a factor in matchmaking and should not be! Imagine the player with the best statistics in the world decides to play a character they never played before. Should they be matched with players that are playing their first match ever since they are both zeros?

I'm not saying the matchmaking doesn't have a lot of room for improvement, but your observation is not demonstrative of the extent to which that is or is not the case.
Actually, what you're suggesting, from a position that it's absurb, would be better. Losing to someone playing their charcter optimally helps newer players improve. Losing this way did wonders for me. Warlords getting revenge in seconds in a 1v1 is impossible to deal with as a new character you're practicing. Once people start wanting to explore new characters anywhere but in duel/brawl they will see that items are incredibly cancerous. Revenge needs to be half if not a fourth as powerful as it is now or it needs a 5 minute internal cooldown. Then you can decide I wanna clutch this 1v2 for my team and it actually mean something.

Matchmaking shouldn't be entirely dependent on character rep, but it should (in addition to the player's skill rating) take gear into account. If gear (which can be obtained only as a function of how much time you've spent on that character) makes a significant gameplay difference, then it should be kept as even as possible. It's not ideal for anyone for a person who may have geared up their main to be matched against other people on their equally-geared mains when they want to try out a new class (which, no matter how much steel the person has, simply can't have good gear until they've ground out a few rep).

I'm simply stating that items are getting out of hand. I'm just listing that the regular damage values for orochi light attacks is 15-17. It's gone to 25-27 damage a light attack. That's a huge increase.

Ugh, it's one of you people again. No he's not. Learn to parry and feint. Gear however, is broken.
