say what you will about shoulder bash mixups, I don't think they should be nerfed - I think more classes should get options like that. This game is already defensive sided enough that I'd hate to nerf offensive options, really I think more classes need better offensive options. But, contrary to that, warden zone attack is absolutely ******ed.
It comes out in 9 frames and covers a massive arc in front of the warden. I can't even dodge it on berserker. I have to be blocking left predicting the zone attack because I definitely can not react to that 9 frame animation in time. That's got to be unintended, right? Was it supposed to be 19 frames and someone just forgot the 1 in front of the 9? Why does warden have the fastest attack in the game by a significant margin?
It always comes from the same side
After it gets blocked the opponent gets a free guard break
It only does moderate dmg
there you got the downsides
and according to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gm5L19vZiEg
it comes out in 12 frames as fast as pk light attacks; Pks zone on the otherhand has 9 frames.
Because the PK doesn't also have a million other dangerous tools to worry about. A warden can just feint right then zone once or twice then mix it up with light right into vortex or feint right into that obxious overhead light can you shoulder bash off that over light if you can lol. Not to mention you have to play defensively since he has 6 fram guard stance switches. One of you warden players need to just admit it your kit is absolutely amazing and surpasses all others by leaps and bounds.Originally Posted by Waynedetta40k Go to original post
I would take a 12 frame massive hitbox zone attack on literally every character even if it cost half of their stamina. All zone attacks cost a lot of stamina, it just so happens that warden has one that is 12 frames and by far better than everyone else. Orochi and berserker don't even have attacks that come out that fast, no matter how much stamina they spend.Originally Posted by PhYcE- Go to original post
It's not a weak attack despite costing half of the Warden's stamina. It's one of Warden's powerful tools...
That being said, it should not be nerfed. It's honestly not remotely game breaking. You can block it or dodge it easy and burn half of the Warden's stamina. The key is to STAY CALM. People get hit by random quick attacks when they are not calm. Seriously, just pretend everything is ok, it's ok to get hit... Don't get nervous... And try to just block all the hits. If you can hit, that's fine... Give yourself a second and block the rest of the attacks.
Get through that a few times (do maybe 10 games of pure blocking)... I assure you, you will see this game differently. So many "OP" moves and characters become trash when you can block. Warden's vortex is his main weapon, the ZA is the secondary backup plan. PK has a faster one yet she's not OP (because that move isn't strong enough to make a med tier hero OP). Give the PK the vortex, lol... SHE WILL BE OP.
Honestly, the zone-attack is amazing, but not as god-like as people claim it is. The Orochi and Peacekeeper's zones are arguably better by all measure, and the Raider's has a vastly superior utility for forcing openings in exhausted opponents.
It always comes from the same side and allows a free guard-break if you even block it. Compare to Peacekeeper's which is roughly twice as fast and only allows punishment if parried, and we have some laughs to be had of people demanding a Warden nerf.
The only Warden tool that needs nerfed is the vortex. The shoulder-charge+guard-break spam is just gross and needs to be redesigned.
