Now I know this topic has been trampeled to death already. Still I'd like to add my 2 cents.
I know about the Hybrid aim system and I'm playing the Open beta right now.
So far I like most of the mechanics and designs on themselves. My interest in 3rd person shooters however is abyssmal,
the main reason being the "they mostly feel the same" part that comes with it from my expirience. I'd love to see a full 1st person support added to the game, I'm not expecting or demanding anything, just expressing my wishthought for the game.
As it stands now, I personally don't see the appeal due to the perspective the game is giving me and probably won't buy the game.
Again I'd like to point out, this is not a complaint or demand, just my opinion.
As a side note I'd like to add that it never has been a bad thing to give the people options to the way they can play.
I doubt it. GR has not been FPS since OGR and Island Thunder.
Your opinion is your opinion, but I find it odd you think 3rd person games all "mostly feel the same," but don't think that of FPS.
If anything, my view is that use of 3rd person feels more different between games due decisions on where to place the camera and how camera movement works (as well as decisions on how to handle aiming down site and/or precision aiming).
The 3rd person view feels quite a bit different between GRAW to GRFS then to GRW, though I think GRW feels more similar to GRAW.
I thought about that statement the moment i wrote it and of course it's a valid point. It's also not easy to change the wheel completely when it comes to these situations.Originally Posted by Cons72 Go to original post
As an example: after playing the beta for a bit, this game feels so extremely close to mgs5 or (shouldn't surprise) the division. one of the fiew 3rd person games i'd consider different from others would be Vanquish for example, yes it is linear and heavily action driven. (stealth is no option in it) but the movement and gameplay mechanics still feel vastly different from other 3rd person games to me.
The Crosshair in 3rd person view is also part of that "same" feel. nowadays developers try to make them more different, usually depending on weapon category. I'ts a nice touch but to me just a dropplet on a hot stone.
It's actually also one of the reasons why I'd enjoy it more from that perspective.Originally Posted by Cavik Go to original post
the first mission in the beta is to free a tortured man. I didn't feel anything when I freed him and barely did when the cutscene started after bringing him back.
I feel it comes from the fact that we are literaly too far away with the camera to actually feel immersed in that moment. It feels like all the charakters we'll meet are just recorded voice lines that get triggered the moment the charakter is spoken to.
and for the : 3rd person is more tactical arguement that could come up.
I think it would be more immersive and tactical to NOT be able to look around corners without the charakter sticking his head out.
In my opionion it makes it easier to steamroll enemies without actually using tactic in the first place.
You see them a lott easier, can "plan" in wich order you shoot them down and cause you can see all the time where they stand you have no problem reacting to them.
When you take these things away in 1st person, you would have to rely more on the usage of the drone and the informartion you potential teammates give you.
