I shouldn't even need to explain why. It's self-evident that a decent matchmaking system will try to get you as close to a 50-50 W:L ratio at all times. Assuming the matchmaking actually works (which, hopefully, it should be), getting a 3-0 blowout is completely unreasonable by any measure. It either means your matchmaking has utterly failed or it means that one of the two players has had a really bad day - either way, you really can't assume that anyone who's actually active in the mode will complete it in anything resembling a reasonable amount of time.
The only reason I finished it is because I barely play duels at all, hence the matchmaking has no idea where my actual skill level is. That feels bloody exploitative, frankly. I don't like it.
This along with the ridiculous 300 soldier kill order need to at least be reconsidered, if not removed outright. This sort of thing is just not fun to deal with.
Really? You can fight someone who is basically your equal in skill and take them 3-0. If every fight goes to the wire and you chunk their last block of health 3 games in a row, you take the order.
People put so much significance on winning a single fight that, apparently, winning 3 in a row means you are godlike in the face of their peasantry.
Also, no matchmaking is going to give you a 50/50 Win/Loss. They aim to try to give you that *eventually*, and even then, it doesn't mean your wins aren't 3-0. You expect every match to go 3-2 if matchmaking works? Because that's completely unreasonable.
Sure, that'll always happen eventually The question is how many matches does it take before that happens?
Can't even imagine trying to get that 3-0 once you reach the level of constant turtlers. Just long and arduous matches of people staring each other down waiting to be the first one to parry. Of course, that's a separate matter, but one that certainly doesn't help my perception of the issue.
What you should really be worried about is how much this encourages people doing the order to just quit as soon as they get their first death. Why bother playing out the rest of the matches (especially if it's the first round) when you know you're not going to finish the order and there's no penalty for just quitting? It's an easy way to encourage some really annoying behavior and I don't know why they would ever think to encourage this, even if in an indirect way. Just no.
