While I do agree that some slight chances to balance should be done, since some classes are a bit lacking (raider, lawbringer) and some have limited options and are force to abuse them (orochi, warlord, pk come to mind). I think that in terms of class balance warden should be taken as an example. Warden is not op, warden simply works, its in a very good place. Warden has most of his attacks/combos viable in some area while Lawbringer, for examble, has most of his attacks/combos useless since its very hard to actualy make them hit. So atm warden > lawbringer simply because warden can make full use of its tools. So its not about buffing/nerfing, its about making all the classes "work".
I like to think I'm an average player, maybe a bit better than average, and the only situation I find myself hopeless is when one of those sumo-guys comes at me from nowhere when im ganked up in a 1vsX fight and just brakes my back. On every other situation I find that there is something that I could have done better. On every 1vs1 that I lost (and I lost plenty to annoying orochis and PKs and pretty much all classes) I could have done better, I could have defeated them if i had done this and that. Same for winning, I never won a 1vs1 because I did something unstoppable. I either surprised my oponent, he messed up or I simply outplayed him/her. FFS people, this is the EXACT REASON why you should play this game, it is the reason why I pre-ordered after the closed beta weekend. I played lots of pvp online games where someone who played a flavor of the month class/build or had greater gear could rolfstomp you senseless everytime. All games say "you can play whatever class you want and still be good in pvp" and it is total bulls**t, but here it seems to be true almost always. Just today I won two dominion matches in a row against a team of rank 4+ with gear score > 80 (two of them had 108) while me and my random teammates were rank 1-2 and gs < 50. Yesterday I won vs a premade with a bunch of randoms and countless other times I won against people who played more than me and had better gear, while just before the maintenance today I played vs a lvl 1 Kensi and I was helping him learning the game and he fair and square surprised me with some moves and killed me more than a couple of times.
My point is that while most classes could use a bit of work, as it is now it is no way near to the point where you cannot enjoy this game. As for the things that actualy should be chanced ASAP, well, i think that the most important thing that should be fixed is the amount of time wasted. Take out your stopwatch (app) and measure how much time you spend in the menus, matchmaking, from the moment you press "PLAY" untill you are back in the menus after a match. Compare that to the duration of the match itself. Its bad. I like hitting other people with my sword. I dont like click click wait wait alt-tab wait oh it started wait no disconnect goddamit start over yey match started ROUND 1 oh why is it taking so long damnit click click click click a hundred times to get back in the menus
Matchmaking. Not talking only about matching newbies with vastly more experienced players. This is an issue and it should be looked into. The biggest problem the matchmaking system has is that it takes too long. Why am I waiting minutes if its "Very high activity"?. Why am I not requeued when I cant join a game for whatever reason (game full, random game error etc)? And why doesnt it make a sound when a game was found so i can alt-tab back into the game?
Interface. Oh god what the hell is this? It seems like everything i want to do is too many button presses away. Dont get me started on the chat interface because honestly, there isnt one. Trying to pass that thing as a chat interface its rather shameful. Im not going to say what is good and what is not, I think that every online game that i played did this part better. Time to git gud yourself Ubisoft. Also the whole aspect of playing in a group with people you know feels like a chore. Make better group and chat interface. No excuses!
Oh, and for a game that wants itself to be "competitive": no spectator mode and general lacking in the "social" aspect of the game? It seems like you dont understand your own game.
P2P vs dedicated servers. P2P is, in theory, better than dedicated servers for this type of game. The way ubisoft made the p2p system for this game has faults. The most serious one is making it possible for ppl to restrict your ip and kick you out of a game. How the hell did this NOT come up during development/testing? Or the random disconnects and the odd way the game hadles them? The p2p aspect of the game is at the moment it biggest downside by far, and p2p itself has nothing to do with it. This should be your no 1 focus untill its fixed.
Controls. Make the controller keys rebindable. Also the way you change stances with the mouse, as it is now, leaves room for exposure when you move your hand in on direction but the stance hasnt changed. I dont know exactly how to explain this, it happens when you get hit, for example, and you see the 2nd hit coming from another side and you move your mouse for a bit and you think that should have changed stances, but you have to keep moving in order for the change to register. You know what Im talking about
Other than this the game is mostly fine. Keep adding new content like heroes, game modes and maps and a lot more customisation.
The combat system overall, the way the animations and sounds make you feel your character, when he moves, when he hits or gets hit, is great. Don't touch!
