Hello everyone, I'd like to show you few ideas on how to make this game a better, more skill based game than parry, gb, attack, parry, gb, attack simulator.
First of all lets look at current state of it:
1. Bad matchmaking, as a player who already got prestige 4 on one of characters, I often meet people who seem to play for the first time - this shouldnt happen even if I pick a character that I didn't play before (level 0).
2. Dueling is all about parrying blocking and guardbreaking which is REALLY bad, when Im trying to play 1v1 Im getting SO FRUSTRATED, most of my opponnents are just waiting for my attack so they can parry it and follow up with guaranteed guardbreak since Im still in animation.
3. Character balance is now the least important aspect of this game, yes there are few stronger classes and some that are total garbage, but buffing/nerfing wont do much if Ubisoft won't take a look at previous points.
Okay, lets move on to my suggestions:
1. Bad matchmaking - just add somekind of ladder to the game, maybe something similar to hearthstone's ladder (you get a point for wininig, if u win 2 games u get 2 points and keeps going with 2 or even 3 points if u keep winning, when u lose u lose 1 point).
2. Dueling should be based on who is better at stamina managment and not who is better at changing directions of stick or mouse, I think that blocking needs downsides, when you block an attack you should lose some stamina, at 0 stamina a block should either open your guard for a brief moment or stun/knock you down depending on what did you block (heavy, light, zone). Due to higher stamina usage, the bar should replenish faster or be fully replenished after getting up from being stunned/knocked down.
Parrying should be a lot harder than it is right now, I dont have a idea how to make it balanced, but maybe make a lesser window for parrying and you should take like 1.5x more dmg if u miss the timing so people wont be trying to parry all the time.
Dodging should drain stamina too, I see people just jumping around like a ****ing monkeys, same goes for sprinting.
Guardbreak is a good mechanic, it has actually best balance right now, but since its super hard to gb someone who already played some time but we need some guaranteed guardbreaks on every character because now some classes cant deal with someone being super defensive. (wait, parry, gb, attack, repeat)
There probably are better ways but im no designer, im just a player who wants a good PVP game.
