Do the vast majority of the playerbase not parry at all?

I consider myself to be very good at parrying and feinting but I rarely meet other players that do. Is the matchmaking in this game ever going to put me up against players that properly test my defence? It seems awful atm. Psn: Rafiqul96 (European region) looking for great players to beat my arse.

Depends on your game mode. When I play with friends we usually go to dominion and I think I've fought one guy since release that used a feint (other than myself of course). Parry is more common, I'd estimate a third of people use it, but only one person every other game will use it well and consistently. There's also a lot of GB spam which even lands on my with depressing regularity.

I think the issue is simply 8 players over a p2p system makes such timed mechanics unreliable, so people fall back on what they know works, cheese and throw spam.

If you're talking 1v1 then you just need to play more to get your mmr up. Feinting and parries are everywhere, at least on the xbone.

Hah, I actually parry far too much, I can't dodge to save my life on an assassin character.

    ROFL...

This is the exact reason why people think Orochi is OP and Shugoki isn't...

Parry makes or breaks your character. If you can Parry, you don't need speed. Just sit there and block/parry all day. You will win. This is what makes high damage, high HP tanks like Shugoki so dangerous if you can't break their defense (aka, if you are not Warden). A Shugoki that can parry is an entirely different Shugoki. Parry is so OP that I don't even use Dodge/Deflect on Assassins.

I think its more because many players rely on their own heroes gimmicks and a set way of playing to win and can't adapt at all. I can parry pretty well in dominion game modes for the most part, even if connections arent really stable people in general are just very predictable.

What does Shugoki get off his parry?

You indeed need to get your mmr up. Right now, in 1v1 (and in 2v2 to some extent) I practically only find decent players who know their stuff. In the other modes you will mainly find spammers who rely too much on gimmicks.

Shugoki gets GB followed by heavy which has a huge knockback and does a lot of damage. Think baseball. I played a Shugoki once that only did this. His defense was crazy. Everything I threw at him got parried followed by this knockback. He would often feint to get a parry as well.

Most people can't block properly... let alone parry.
