    Chat harassment and "psychological warfare".

    So, I'm not going to complain about (dis)honorable fights, unbalanced heroes or 4/3/2v1 fights, to be honest, that does not concern me and is not the point of this topic.
    I'm much less interested in "flaws" in the game mechanics, rather I'm (much) more concerned with the following;

    It's the player base.

    I understand the use of taunting in chat, it could draw out the worst in your opponent and makes one play worse (or sometimes better) and gives one somewhat of a relief when you bait someone into a ragefest.
    However, I've been playing this game (in my opinion) pretty often (78 hours up till now) and not only me, but also my fellow team mates and opponents get **** for having 108 gear already and/or being high in rep.

    When I win, it's even worse;
    I'm a no-lifer,
    I can only win because of gear,
    I paid to win,
    I'm probably an angry kid with troubles at home,
    I (should) got/get ****ed in the *** like the little angry boy I am.

    When I lose; (Also by team mates)
    I'm a noob (even 4/3/2v1 but who cares),
    Even my dad's credit card can't save me,
    I'm a waste of space, de-install the game plz,
    I dishonor the game, I should kill myself.

    I'm a 26 year old with a wife and a disposable income. **** me, right?

    Mind you, there's far worse being thrown at me, being scolded for every move I make, whether or not it wins or costs us the game, from both the opponent and my team mates.
    Usually, when I see these things online, I just ignore it or go do something else, but this is a game I like to play.

    Also, before anyone asks; Yes, I'm a dishonorable player;
    I throw people into environment, I 4/3/2v1, and I hug control points more than I do with my wife.
    Why?
    Because I really, really dislike inefficiency. I play to win and I play to lose, as long as I have done anything I could to play my best in a sound tactical way.

    To me, having to throw someone into environment is a sign of respect.
    4/3/2v1'ing is a sign of respect.
    Pointhugging is a sign of respect.
    Why?
    Because that means I have found no other effective means to deal with you or am too "afraid" to deal with you the "honorable" way.

    I do not want to get **** for playing the game.
    I do not want to be called a ****face troll, incompetent piece of ****, salty moron or a liar when I call a GG (when my chat button stops working (AGAIN!)) because I genuinely enjoy playing this game with and without it's flaws.

    I may not treat people with respect with my actions in game, but I certainly do in chat (usually) and I expect this to be a standard among all the players.

    Right now, all I can do is report these people for grieving, but I'm not sure this is the right thing to do.
    I'd like a button that allows me to report a chat, a simple quick-button at the end of each match that allows me to do so.

    Mind you, I don't feel bullied and I only feel a little butt-hurt, but again, this topic is not here for me to -just- complain.
    I understand that monitoring all the chats that would get reported would require quite a team of people to handle, but my concern is not one of costs, more of bugs, and the worst bug to plague this game (in my opinion) is the parasite called a salty and malicious community.
    Right now it's a minority, but as the days go by, these kind of chats are becoming more and more common practice.

    So I think we should either find a way to punish this type of behavior appropriately, or I want a button to disable chat in my option menu.

    heres my problem with the rep gear situation, I don't like to play one character that would be incredibly dull in a game where it takes less than a day to master a given hero. so instead of having a rep 6 hero I have 2 rep 2 heroes and 2 rep 1 heroes and still don't have access to higher level gear, plus gear? in a fighting game? what is this dragon ball?

    You're thinking about this too much. It's all gravy. For Chat, prioritize party over game & play with friend(s).

    That also doesn't sit right with me, I don't really like the matchmaking, but my point is; Why would someone take that out on a fellow player?
    I'm rep 5, single hero, because I love the way the guy looks, that's all and to me, it's an added bonus that not everyone and their mother plays it.
    I want to get to rep 30 as fast as I can, because I love the skin I get there, so I can make the guy look even better.
    I spend most of my steel on scavenge packs because I want to see if I can get 'prettier' gear.

    Do you not agree with me that it's unfair to take out the matchmaking frustration out on me as a player, because I absolutely love playing this one single character?
    And does it feel justified to you, whether or not if I have L108 gear or a rep 5, I still get a nice cold 'get bent' kind of reply when I win or lose a game? (Yes, I tried playing with other characters)

    I'm not trying to attack you in any way by the way, I would just like to get your opinion, though I understand if the wording might suggest otherwise.

    Well, when I play with friends, I often have to deal with a pretty heft amount of salt (towards the opponent) as well, which is not fun for me to be honest.

    When I don't, I find the same thing happening, except in chat instead of skype, which is less annoying but still annoying nonetheless.
    I play quite often (my wife less so), so to me, having to deal with this more often becomes more of a burden that someone who doesn't deal with this as often I can imagine, so all I can give is my perspective on this.

    Only people I really have a problem are spammers, that swear their nice because they can win spamming one move that is broken and very hard to dodge and the rapes I get on the game 4v1 3v1 2v1. as for words, meh i don't let them affect me i always have a smart *** remark to give when someone tries to play that **** with me on a game XD

    My response to that for the friends is the same as the strangers: mute when you don't feel like dealing with it, from the scoreboard. I generally bull$hit on headset with my friend with some game communication, but for alone games I find the emote chat commands (both universal & party oriented) can get you by on communicating with your team.

    If your friends are that salty and it's more irritating than helping, you mute then until another friend says something & your muted friend gets butthurt, then it's sounds like a Grow the F@ck Up moment for your friend(s). All in all you know what's up and how to handle it, just don't let it wear you down.

    Aren't spammers very easy to predict, though? I rarely win anything by spamming the same move (if I do), but then again, I only do so out of frustration.

    And good for you for not letting it affect you, I would be a smart-*** more often, but after nearly 80 hours of playing it gets somewhat old for me.
    So for me, personally, it would give me somewhat more of a peace of mind knowing there'd be a 'report chat' button and would offer some sort of incentive for people to not chat-troll other players.

    Haha, yeah, but i found the scoreboard menu a little too much of a hassle, so I usually just mute my headset for the remainder of the match (oh the tranquility) and after I tell them to grow the hell up. Sometimes it works, other times they ragecomplain about w/e again so I mute again or leave the group (usually the latter).
    Thing is, even with them it's recurring, and I told them I would sometimes report their *** in less than a heartbeat were the option available, alas, they don't use chat, so I just don't play as often with them anymore.

    Anyway, thanks for peptalk, I'll try not to let it grind me down.

    Going to bump this up a notch, still like to see a "report chat" button added.
