First and foremost, I am a story gamer. Multiplayer rarely, if ever, interests me. So bear in mind that this is the opinion of a lifelong story gamer who plays for fun and an immersive gaming experience.
I cannot begin to describe the disappointment and frustration For Honor heaped upon me. This is a game with truly incredible visual appeal, thoroughly engrossing story and a unique and innovative combat system. A for idea, B for effort, D for result. You combined three of the most prolific warrior cultures in human history, gave us control of veteran warriors of different styles in peak physical condition, and gave them all the speed, grace and fluidity of lumberjacks stuck in cement.
The limitations you imposed on us with the combo system are oppressive and unrealistic. The stamina bar is too short by a mile to apply to these lifelong, veteran warriors. The customization of our personal heroes is a slap in the face to story gamers because we can't even use them in story mode. And I could have lived with the last two, but the combat system you developed for this game is more chore than challenge.
Kids in broomstick battles with their brothers have more speed and technique than these Samurai, Vikings and Knights. I cannot understand how something like this came to be. Barebones research watching Spartacus, Highlander and any Arthurian movie/show in the last decade and consulting with those choreographers would have yielded better results than what made it into the For Honor final.
It is an utter shame that such an innovative and potentially groundbreaking game was not given the effort and invention it deserved.
In closing, I will say this: I give this game 4 out of 10 points. One point for each faction, four for the graphics, three for the story and minus six for the combat.
Yup, least we were given what was advertised, unlike some other games. (cough destiny cough)Originally Posted by weaponx1718 Go to original post
