Dirty from the get go
Honorable till they do something dishonorable
Honorable till the end
Hey everyone, I'm here to see which code of honor do you guys abide by when playing Brawl mode?
Do you play dirty from the start? Everything's fair in war after all.
Do you Play honorable until your opponents do something dishonorable? They started it first!
Do you Stick to playing honorably till the end?
If none of the above, please share with us in the comments!
It's a 2v2 match up. The game mode rules dictate that the last team with a member surviving are the winners, and every method of viable elimination is on the table. So simply put, I'm going to kill my guy and then go kill my teammates guy. Those are the rules. That's the code of honor applied to that game mode.
I don't quite know what playing dirty implies as the only rules are kill the opposing team first. Is throwing someone off the edge dirty? Is using a zone attack considered dirty? Is it dirty to only use quick attacks in an effort to spam through the win? Is it dirty to execute my first opponent so that his opponent may have a chance to revive him later? In short, I'm going to do all those if given the chance to, or the need to execute my mirror.Originally Posted by Raiga-kun Go to original post
I don't rely on others to dictate to me what I'm going to do. The established ruleset of the 2v2 Brawl game mode is team based combat with the team with the last remaining player or players surviving wins. That means that I'm going to play until that happens.Originally Posted by Raiga-kun Go to original post
I honor the rules of combat involved in the game mode to the strictest.Originally Posted by Raiga-kun Go to original post

If the enemy ganged up on me/my teammate in one round, I'll definitely remember that, but I'll decide how to use that information later. If we end up in that 2v1 situation in one of the next rounds and I think my teammate is fine on his own, or if he wants to finish fighting this 1 on 1 on his own, I'll just idly stand by. If he needs and wants help, I'll help.
Also to be clear, I only consider ganging up 2 on 1 and resurrecting as dirty. If the enemy tries to go 2v2 instead of two separate 1v1's from the start of a round, I'll try to separate them as it's a bit too clunky but other than that it's just another way of seeing the brawls.
And the environmental kills are fine as long as it's not the only thing they do. If we're fighting on a bridge and he gets in a very unpredictable guardbreak, it's pretty well played on his side and my fault for not expecting it. If I randomly get close to the spikes and he insta guardbreaks and throws me into them, it's my bad for not being aware of the hazards on the map. But if we're on that bridge and he just tries to guardbreak me over and over again hoping it'll work eventually, I'll consider it a bad sport. I won't 2v1 him for that, but I'll definitely quit the next match lobby.
I don't see it as fighting dirty so much as playing to win.
If I can push you off of a ledge, I will. If we outplayed you so as to outnumber you, we'll press that advantage.
I really don't see anything wrong with using pretty simple game mechanics and strategies as they were clearly intended. In my opinion, it's not like we're abusing or spamming included features. We're not abusing the noob tube in COD, or spawnkilling.
Though, I really do respect people who play the "honorable" way. Thematically, it's a pretty cool idea.
