It would also cause imbalances in more classes than you mention, because Orochi and Warden, for example, can get a free extra light in if they connect with a top or side light (respectively). Wardens already often use lights out of GB to chain into a vortex. If anything, some classes can get away with minimal punish for being parried already, like Nobushi, Kensei, I think LB, and I *think* Shugoki (I forget) due to the range on their weapons.

Well, first off, to the hype train thing... you're right. But the hype usually lasts longer than a couple days. Look at Diablo 3 for instance. Not a game with a ton of levity but lots and lot and lot of hype.

That game retained its playerbase for at least a month before the number steeply declined. This game started falling off the day after it was launched. The forums where filled with negative posts with valid points that have gone unanswered by Ubisoft.

When your playerbase is abandoning you within the first week, there is a major problem.

    Ok back to this quote.

Notice exactly how I said what I said. I said that you get the damage equivalent of a light attack. I did not say that you get a free light attack because obviously that wouldn't be fair since Warden and Orochi (the two most powerful characters in the game according to most high level players) would get way more value from that than the poor Conq who would get a pathetic 12 damage.

I'm thinking something more along the lines of motion in-line with the guardbreak motion if you hit light attack right after a successful GB. After a slight bruising your opponent then struggles away from you and the fight resumes.

Honestly this is part of the game that I find most frustrating about GB in general. There is no struggle in GB animations. The guy grabs you and you go limp as a boned fish. He then tosses you like a potato sack into a pit and you just take it? I hate that about the game right now.

I didn't see that wording, but that makes more sense. Either way, I'm more of the opinion that a bar of health is a generally worthy punishment for getting GB'd. If you are near a wall, a bit over a bar/bar and a half works too. Shugoki is really the main offender in potential gain from a GB in my eyes.

I've seen bloody cuts on my character's head before, and if I took a heavy axe swing to the skull, even with a helmet, odds are I wouldn't be running around. Some suspension of disbelief is required in a game like this for the sake of gameplay. Same if a Berserker runs up behind me and leaps into the air, burying two axes into my collarbones. Or in MKX I think it is with the X-Ray attacks. The amount of damage done in those is hilarious, but they get back up and fight anyway if they haven't lost all of their health.

And I'm pretty certain Diablo's numbers started plummeting in the first 3 days during connections issues. I still see people talking about how they tried to play, left, and never looked back, even though the game is incredibly different (and wonderful) now. If they stayed for a month, it's only because the carrot on a stick dangles longer in a game like Diablo than it does in a game like For Honor, I'd wager.

I can agree with a good amount of the points you made OP, Bravo! I'm on board 100% with those feats, seriously, **** the longbow, arrow strikes, and catapult. they all are basically 1HK. I played a match of elimination yesterday and an orochi popped rage and while I was dueling his team mate, ONE SHOT ME with the long bow! I was at FULL HEALTH! like what in the actual ****!? lol That **** is game breaking. As for the Guard Breaks, the spamming of it (especially with characters that have the unblockable ones) is quite annoying and its all you see happen because almost all of them can link to guaranteed hits. I think it could be balanced out if they consumed more stamina to perform so you end the spam of the moves. It would also be nice if they just removed moves that have guaranteed hits and made them actually blockable or enough time to react with a dodge. In my opinion, guaranteed hits that can be spammed bring further imbalance to this game and does make many fights feel like a cheese fest.

    LOOK AT ME!

Here's a SOLID suggestion: when season 3 is released, Ubisoft sends everyone here a Mr. Meseeks skin for their heroes. Imagine the 4v4's. IMAGINE IT!!!

I agree with very few things you say, while most of what you ask is to redesign game to your own liking. I got issue with there being pits everywhere but thats about it when it comes to combat and map mechanics, well maybe also full hp revives. Everything else is fine and it is just a matter of getting good and understanding the game, not spamming the heavy attacks over and over.

The real issues are the into and loading screens, and the elim and skrim coin toss.

A difference in opinion is fine. That said, the issues become more and more glaring the higher up in skill level you get.

When I was in the alpha and closed beta these same issues existed but I barely noticed them because my and my opponent's skill in parrying was much lower and GB mechanics weren't as game breaking because many people didn't optimize their opportunities.

Now that I am a higher tier player and getting matched against higher tier players the game has become extremely stagnant.

Almost every fight comes down to a 1HK mechanic as both me and my opponent try to get position on each other to tech or GB the other into an the environment.

Fights that come down to damage are almost entirely dictated by revenge, parry, or "free hits" either through tech or GB.

The game gets less and less interesting the more and more you optimize your play-style when game-play isn't balanced. And game-play is very very far from balanced right now which honestly is starting to make game play boring.

I actually got called out on it yesterday twice. Someone messaged me "Spam harder" and then began to complain that I used only GBs and stuns. I thought to myself "Yup, it's true. If I had other effective options I would definitely use them... but I don't..."

Then I dueled a friend and he said, "You use the same couple of combos over just changing up orders and making small adaptations. But it pretty much is all the same."

I couldn't argue. It's true. I have a whole tool kit but most of it is unusable garbage so I pretty much spam the same 5 or so moves and ignore the rest of it.

Unfortunately when your game mechanics are horribly balanced the game gets really dumbed down and uninteresting...

How to save For Honor - bad players should stop complaining about every single thing and this game and should start practicing more.

Ignore that the game have problems and says that the people complain being a bad player, thats a pretty bad attitude in a forum of feedback. Post your point is better that "Omg practice you newbie"

I agree with the guardbreak point, is too strong and give access to free damage in a safe way, and the block/attack feat is forged, when it should be the main flow of the fights.

Except the things I'm saying are the most noticable THE BETTER YOU GET.

Go watch a streamer. Fairlight, Sacriel, TrueTalent, TimtheTatMan, Cartoon... any of them.

Every single one of them will echo my complaints.

These are the FACTION GENERALS! Guys who have been promoted by Ubisoft specifically to be pillars of influence for this game.

And they are echoing the same things I'm saying here.

So... maybe it isn't that I'm bad and need to practice. Maybe it is that you are bad and aren't on the level where these issues are as noticeable.

Dude, please pay more attention to the Suggestion and feedback forum section here. It is full of players who apparently haven't spent enough time with the game before complaining about a given move or chracter. There is numerous threads where I read complaints about something that it is not even so hard to counter at first place. It just needs some more time to practice how to consitently guard break, for example. And I don't even address people who complain about technical issues (although I don't have ANY at all), I address people who cry about nerfs and buffs.
