Just thought I'd see what tips and tricks people have picked up for Dominion, Elimination, etc. Everything besides duels.
So far the #1 thing I have learned is:
-STOP SPAMMING ATTACKS IN 2/3/4v1!!
I can't tell you how many times I have seen someone's life saved because their opponent's teammates came barreling in swinging their weapon and gives the outnumbered nearly dead foe Revenge. I myself have had situations where I turn a losing 1 on 1 into two kills because the person who was beating me a moment ago is suddenly being held back by a teammate smashing away with heavies. If you choose to try and help a teammate take someone down be careful.
-Identify who your opponent is attacking
if it is you just focus on defense and let your ally hit them from behind. If they are focusing on your ally THINK before you ATTACK. Blocking a second opponent is incredibly easy, so make sure you are attacking from a different angle than your ally. In fact it is often best to wait for the opponent to attack your ally and then hit them in the back when their guard is down.
-Back away when they start flashing gold
Two people spamming attacks often just means revenge mode fills up twice as fast. Attacking at the same time is also an invitation to both be knocked down by Revenge activation and killed. Try to stagger your attacks to come during your ally's recovery animations, that way there is a constant barrage with no time for the opponent to recover.
-Friendly Fire
Although you can't damage your allies your hits still stagger them, this is why a horde of allied players often turns into a churning mass of flailing limbs, all of them whacking eachother and no one able to get a clean attack on their target. You have to stay spread out.
-Consider letting them fight.
You don't always need to gang up, a big part of the game's fun is in 1 on 1 duels, and adding a third person into the mix often won't speed up the rate at which the opponent will die. If your ally seems to have the fight in hand consider if there is something else useful you can do like grabbing upgrades or capturing zones.
This is "wrong" (or maybe just not clearly written down).Originally Posted by Edthebed Go to original post
If the opponent is focusing on your ally, your own attack direction won't change anything! He only has to block in your direction to block all of your 3 directions.
Other than that, very good advices. I'll add my own:
Play it safe and make sure the opponent can't block anything to avoid filling his revenge bar up.
The easy way is to do GB/light, rinse and repeat. He can't defend dual GB.
Throw as many unblockable as you can.
If you really want to hit him, try to position yourself in his back and move around, so that you alternatively attack him from left and right.
Get on the sides and out of his screen, then come in running with a bash, he won't see it until it's too late.
As soon as he activtes his revenge, focus on disabling him and if he attacks you only defend, let your ally do the damages.
Top-tip: if you know he's going to activate revenge, don't attack, wait for it, and as soon as he does => GB/bash/throw him around, such as to waist his "uninteruptible" time.
