Based on one or a few day one tournaments ? The game is still new, call me noob if you want but i don't believe your "understanding" of the game is that great until we see how it evolves during the next few months.

Assuming both players are equally skilled and have an equal amount of matchup knowledge, the higher tier character will win the majority (as little as 51% or as high as 100%) of the duels. Tier lists do not suggest that regardless of skill level the player playing the higher tier character will always win.
There is a misconception about tier lists : these are primarly based on matchups.

    Let's say, for example :
Character A has 8 favorable matchups, 1 mostly even ones and 2 unfavorable ones.
Character B has 3 favorable matchups, 4 moslty even ones and 4 unfavorable ones.

The tier list would say that character A is ranked higher than character B. However, it turns out that character B is, for some reason, one of the unfavorable matchups of character A. Which means that when players are equally skilled, character B is more likely to win the duel against character A.

This is why you see counterpicks in fighting games, in order to cover as many matchups as possible.

lol i was hoping you would come back here and tell him that....i was laughing so hard when he told you that you had no idea what top players thought when you are the top player righ tnow (at least one of). You should have won that last tournament btw...you completely outplayed animegirl. he got lucky on those 3 environmental kills...plus i think you had a round that you could have thrown him off but didnt.

Unfortunately, the validity of an opinion isn't based on authority on a subject (that's the appeal to authority fallacy). The fact is that people can say whatever they want to benefit their position, for example since you play Conqueror, you might say Conqueror is **** simply to hope for a buff. Fact remains that you did well with a Conqueror, thus it cannot possibly be low tier (unless you fancy yourself a God can capable of reaching 2nd place with a **** class).

We don't deal with opinions, we deal with facts and logic. Which part of the tier list do you disagree with and what logical reason do you have and HOW do you verbalize it? Try that.

It's way too early to finalize a tier list. I'd say it's way too early for 'high level' play.

A fighting game meta takes time, tournaments, and loads of data to figure out. Sm4sh didn't get its first tier list until maybe a year plus some into the game. I remember when people thought Duck Hunt was a good character, and Mario was mid tier. Just watch a video of how 'high level' Mario mains played in the early game, then watch Ally in his newer tournaments (the one where he beat Zero is a good one).

I'd say at least way for all the characters to come out, then wait for a couple of tournaments, then we can determine a tier list.

The only people who'd stick Orochi and the assassins in general in the lower tiers are those who don't know how to dodge, or actually main one and are trying to make them look less OP than they are.

Entirely untrue. I main Warden now. I DID main Orochi before which is why I know he's weaknesses so intimately.

Dodge, really? Dodge? First of all, who complains about dodge? WHO STILL DODGES? No good Orochi dodges over parry. Parry give you a stronger punish and it's safer (you can feint the parry if it fails). Dodge is for noob stomping only.
