+1, people shouldn't shove eachothers ideals down one anothers throats. The sticky is just reinforcing peoples expectations to be privelaged to an uninteresting 'honorable' battle that disposes of a majority of the games interesting mechanics. I'm surprized these tools haven't started requesting 'no parrying' and 'no guard breaks' as being honorable.
Counter the guard break and throw them off first. The best way to avoid being thrown off a ledge is to throw someone else off the ledge because they might throw you off the ledge. Also get in the habit of pressing your butt onto concrete surfaces as frequently as possible.Originally Posted by StrutterGear Go to original post

If you read the whole post, it repeatedly states that nobody should be expected to follow said code. That it is a personal choice that has nothing to do with the playstyle of your enemy and should never lead to calling out others. It is literally the least toxic verbalization of a hypothetical honor code there is.
I voted to let it stay, because it moderates the honor hardliners to not impose their codes upon others, while it educates those interested in what is happening when someone does not interrupt a duel.
The TL;DR of the sticky is not: Act like this, or you are unhonorable
Its: "if you want to follow a code of respect and chivalry, here is a good example of one"
Therefore, since it does not advocate said "code of honor", but merely educates about it, i find it to be an asset to this forum and therefore worthy of a sticky.
An argument that I would accept would be, that stickying this post makes this particular version of an honor code seem superior to others (which the code explicitely states that it is not) and should therefore not be endorsed by the forum mods over other codes. However I stand by my opinion, that it is an enrichment for the community.
For those who do not want to read the sticky, here is a quote:
"Still… you cannot, should not and have no right to expect such courtesy from anyone. If you choose to follow this code, do it for yourself, not for any praise or morale high ground. There is no moral high ground for us in this."
It is the general attitude towards a code of honor that i think is healthy for this community. You will not silence the duelists by deleting the sticky, but you will remove the only non-toxic source about this topic.
