How on earth did you get so many boxes? Am I missing something? I earned 2 by playing the story and that's it, where else can I get them from?

As Packing stated I found most of them from unbreakables. I also received 3 from playing since alpha and then 3 from Gold edition. I used some at rep lvl 2 just to give me some help.

Now I'll wait till lvl 4.

I would wait untill rank 8, then u will get lvl 18 gear out of the boxes and don´t need to spend extra steel to upgrade them...If you get the gear on rank 3, u need to upgrade every item for 6x270 steel for max level...not worth it, eh?

Try and break as many breakables as you can. Think I finished with 10 or so.

What about other characters? Say i have one character at rep 3, does that mean that when i scavenge gear with another no-rep character, will get the heroic gear as well?

No rep is on a per toon basis.
