I know that the timing is always after when the action make contact, but how are you players (especially heavy mains) able to pull it off easily?
for me, no matter how much I practiced with advanced BOT, I never get 80% right. and when on duel I always be a victim of GB. The time when making contact sound I starts mashing that square button out of desperation and always nothing happen but me being combo-ed brutally.
Now I just rely much on dodge and attacks as soon as GB pops, but I really want to know how to really GB, it is such a simple thing to pull off but I cant seem to pull it off like many does.
It is really irritating to experience actions that wont execute, eventhough I really saw it coming.
How to tell you really. You need to feel it. When i see that enemy start animation, i wait a moment and then use GB myself. For me it just took practice. First on bot lvl 3 (in custom matches, change option to "no damage" for longer matches) and then in duels against player. At start it was really hard for me too. Im still not perfect on it, but its better every day.
step 1 is to figure out when you have to press it. when someone guard breaks you, your own stance indicator (that triangular looking thing that shows if your guard is set to right top or left) shows a guard break symbol. this one is more telling to understand when you are supposed to press it, while the enemy's red guard break indicator does not really tell you the exact timing when to press it. so go into advanced training or a custom match vs a bot and look for that white symbol.
step 2 is to condition your muscle memory. once you know when to press it, you just have to do it over and over again. if you are fairly consistent (50%+ success), try it with your eyes closed. this really helps imo. just go by sound.
step 3 is to manage to do it in a real fight. for that you definitely want to set up a custom match vs AI and turn off damage. go for AI lvl2 or 3. i think i managed to get the bot to guard break fairly consistently by parrying until he is out of stamina. if you are close to him once he regains stamina, i think he will use guard break a lot. not sure on that though. another thing you could do to make it more realistic is to keep feinting until he either attacks (in this case block or parry) or guard breaks.
also note that there are guard breaks that you can not break. if someone parries you into a guard break or catches you while you are dodging or in recovery after an attack that you missed, you will not be able to counter guard break.
You cannot be moving or dodging when they are breaking your guard, or you can't counter it. To counter the GB, just stand still for a second, the GB comes, wait until you hear the sound of the enemy hitting your body and at that instant you press the button, not before or after.
Your main problem is button mashing. You should land it with one button hit, otherwise you never make it working.Originally Posted by KeraSarung Go to original post
Just wait patiently for the patch that will fix it.Originally Posted by KeraSarung Go to original post
Guardbreak Counter (All Heroes):
Currently you can’t counter a guardbreak during a guardbreak attempt. This will be returned to the previous behavior seen in the Beta.
