    Is this game by design?

So I was fighting a Nobushi who was reputation 5 that with one heavy attack take down four bars of health.
No one in the match could beat her because we don't have the time to play all day to get to reputation 5.
One, wtf is this matchmaking and two if you're gonna include higher level reps you might want to tone down the power difference.
    Who tested this game?

Are you under the impression "reputation" provides some sort of bonus damage? Do an actual test with a high level high gear hero, the damage difference is minor. He's just more skilled than you are. Period.

First, rep 3+ are all the same, the gearscore cap is 108 and it's easily reachable within a couple weeks even if you're not playing all day.
Second, are you sure you're not exaggerating the damage? Or did you team up on her and she entered revenge mode? Well the revenge mode attack is boosted enough even without any gear.

Higher rep allows higher gear score items to drop that boosts the hell out of damage and even more so, revenge damage. So yes, there is a direct correlation to rep and performance by way of gear. Gear only appears in 4v4 matches, not in 1v1 or 2v2, or custom matches set up for no gear.

I am calling out the false conclusion... MAYBE he was in revenge mode... MAYBE it was from two hits... MAYBE you were pushed into a spike? Math don't lie... Perception does.

I tested full attack gear, and the difference is about 10-15%, it amounts to "One less Light Attack" needed to kill an opponent.

Do the math, don't throw out BS like it's real. This is like the gaming superstition, no one does actual math anymore and just say random things...

I realize he meant gear, but he phrased it like "prestige" matters. In my statement you quoted, you noticed that I mentioned high gear individuals do minor bonus damage.

It's so easy to test, get a friend and go to town! Just have one piece of high attack gear and test it out. No gear and full attack gear makes very very little difference. There's no way he could do 4 bars with a normal heavy (no revenge, no fire, no env damage). I have mythic gear, it gives me about 10-15% damage over someone with no gear. BUT I lost about 10% defense, so I net about 5% damage. Niffy, considering if I am better than someone, I win with maybe 85% health left and if someone's got my number, a 5% bonus really won't help. A majority of the fight do not end within a 5% difference.

In some cases, the 5% difference has no "real" advantage. For some character, he will bring you to like 1/3 bar of health with 3 heavies OR he will bring you to a full bar of health with 3 heavies... But either way, he needs a 4th hit to kill you. So no "real" combat advantage in that case AT ALL.

Please, just test it... It's ridiculously low difference. Most people are just getting owned and crying cause they sucked. Is this guy beating duels but only losing gear'd matches? If so, maybe he's right... But if he's getting his *** handed to him left, right and center... The problem lies beyond the gear...
