In order to have any right to complain about balance, nerfs being required, buffs needed you have to understand the game. Someone that is constantly getting shoved off cliffs, killed in 5 seconds, cannot dodge / parry an unblock-able attack does not understand the game to its fullest potential.
as stated, i am by no means a great player and i have a lot to learn, and yet still i have managed to scrape through with a 94% win rate over 20 hours of game-play.
The above indicates to me that the people that are complaining about their losses, are losing a lot. from this i understand its a fairly wide assumption but without trying to insult you (the readers) feelings and being 100% factual based upon my experience there is at least a 90% chance if i fought you in a duel i would beat you. This isnt me saying that i am a better player mechanically, or i somehow have ''more skill'' than anyone else it is just a fact. over 90% of my 250 odd games i have won, and if i (a self proclaimed average player) can receive such a high success percentage then everyone that complains on the forums about nerfs and balance is obviously doing something different than myself.
With all that said, what is it that i do differently than most? i do not know. What i do know is:
I am competent at fighting level 3 bots consistently with little effort.
I have studied hours upon hours of YouTube videos, tutorials, champion guides, champion roles, how-to's even if i have spent (and this is an example so please do not take this literally) 300 hours playing a specific hero if a new video shows up in my daily search featuring a guide i will watch it. Despite it being the 20th video on the exact same topic i will watch it so it is ingrained into my skull how to perform a basic parry.
I have studied my opponents every round, always adjusting noticing combos that are popular with each character throughout the day. (you would be surprised how many people adopt the same habits day-to-day after fighting the current active community. ) Example: one day wardens are all heavily using GB and the next day the craze seems to be a spam of lights.
One night i spent 4 hours playing against a level 3 bot in practice mode doing nothing but walking towards the bot, stalking him pushing into his face and practicing to see how long i could survive exclusively blocking and countering guard breaks.
Another night i spent about half an hour doing the same thing but trying to parry everything the bots threw at me (only half an hour because parrying is hard xD )
when i lose a game to what seems like lag, or luck i save the match recording to review my timings, combat choices or to simply find out if the red bandit hijacked my opponents internet connection again.
So you see, i have put a lot into making sure i am equipped with the knowledge to win. And the most important point of this entire topic is going to shock, annoy and possibly downright depress a lot of people:
This game is not about the duels. This game is being balanced for 4v4 Dominion matches as a priority. 1v1 Duel match-ups with 0 gear scores will never be balanced perfectly because that is not ubisofts core vision for this game.
and within those matches ARE gear scores, which will drastically change how each opponent will be balanced.
I will end this narrative with one final comment about the combat system and how 'X 'character is OP because 'Y' character cant do anything because of 'Z' reason:
this game is fundamentally a rock paper scissors match as most would know at higher levels of play. you need to find out which of these three your opponent is going to throw, and counter it. or at least mitigate it. One strategy to this is to trick your opponent into thinking your going to throw rock when your really feinting into scissors.
Another valid strategy is to use such a large rock, that even if your opponent hard counters you with scissors you have enough rock to smash through it anyway.
