I'm replying to another poster who has complains about gear. I believe gear plays a role, but is not the deciding factor in most encounters. No contradiction here I believe!Originally Posted by The_Warminds Go to original post

There are clearly a lot of different opinions floating around, and I am sure my capabilities as a player play a part in how well and where I play the game. so fair point, all be it I feel a little sarcastically expressed. I have had time to reflect and chill - so thanks for the detailed response!

If someone can get to level 30, and within a few hours be effectively competing in PVP in the DZ that is great, for me that is the way it should be - pop a link and let me see how that is achieved rather than just point out how easy it is for you!
I think the normalization of stats is good for the game, thanks for pointing that out - Why do you think they have done this?

Sure thing, sure thing, I've got you covered! Marcostyle, admitedly a rather good PC player recently had this video up :Originally Posted by Xx_SkAn_xX Go to original post
As for gearing up your best route is to farm the LZ bosses a couple of times, more so if you have two 30s. A full run takes around 50 minutes. 14 bosses twice + random drops you are looking at 60 items in around two hours. Not THAT bad. Sure, you'll have a decent, but not OP build, but that's really all you need. Yeah, toiling away at your build will make it work better, but this game is not 90% gear 9% luck and 1% skill like some people would have others believe.
Here's a map on where LZ bosses are too :
So yeah man, pick your battles, know when to fight, when to run, manage your CDs and if you still go down it's just a bleeding game!!! I matchmake and usually have the upperhand in my encouters 60-70% of the time. However when you go up against a really good team it shows and matchmakers will get eaten most of the time. Happens, and that's just the way it is. That's why I'm going to see if I can get me a stable team for LS at some stage, if only for a couple of weeks, to see whether I can be really competitive for a bit. Just for laughs of course.
Happy hunting!!!
Someone said to me today and no disrespect to him"...Takes a few hours once you hit 30 to get a good build together which can compete in the DZ. So if you are being outplayed that's exactly the thing, out-played. Some players out there are better at this game than you, nothing to do with gear."
I went on YouTube with this comment - it's what he believes, and I can respect that, so took the comment to someone who I think knows what he is talking about!
Upper Echelon >I dont agree, for someone who already sank in 1400 hours and knows exactly which stats to prioritize AND gets lucky in a few hours yes you can compete for an average player who has not spent that much time and gets even MILDLY unlucky no its a complete fallacy. Personally, I could make from scratch in a few hours a build that would perform in the DZ and allow me to not be the worst player on the field... but It would be VERY far from enjoyable as I would be outmatched pretty much every fight by specific mechanics I was not able to utilize. (this is 1.5 though, 1.6 may be vastly different)
What I would like to see implemented is to reduce (not remove) the grind for gear and / or increase the chance of finding / acquiring competitive gear and / or reduce the amount of gear that is all to quickly trash - and introduce challenges to acquire Crafting Sources (elevating there value status within the game).
IMO - More players with better gear, acquired more easily etc means happier players, way more fun, more PVP, more fun PVE encounters therefore lots more people raving about the game because they are having fun, not depressed (talking about myself here) from slopping from one place to another with often little reward for their effort!
I think this game is worth the effort - lets have a debate !
Don't use Marco as an example. LOLOriginally Posted by LepantoESP Go to original post

Marco never even shot back. He'd run them all out of ammo and then they'd all stop and chat for a while.
And widdz is one of the absolute best in the game.
Marco just knows the game to it's root mechanics and he's not only a great player but extremely knowledgeable.
It was funny when the five of them caught up with him again and were talking about whether or not to kill him and widdz said "it's lame that it takes all five of us to maybe kill him."
Hahaha
For someone who has around 2400 hours in the game, I hate to break it to you but things don't really change much at this end either. I had a lot of issues with this game and PvP early on but people would always, as they do now, blame my build, blame my skill level, blame me for playing solo. In my mind it is smoke and mirrors to divert people away from the real genuine issues that contribute to the disappointment that the majority experience in this game.Originally Posted by Xx_SkAn_xX Go to original post
After months and months playing this game, I can honestly say that I have builds that are better in many cases than a lot of the builds showcased on forums and You Tube. Not all of them but a lot of them. I am still not great at PvP and I do get outclassed by skill alone but when that happens it is usually a long fight that comes down to who runs out of medkits first or dies to a broken game mechanic more than anything.
What I see constantly in the DZ now are a minority of players who have skillpower, toughness AND DPS. A situation that supposedly cannot occur and yet it does. Last night, two players were standing out in the open at Bryant Park taking fire from six players and losing virtually no health. In addition they were able to throw out seekers relentlessly and when they got close could melt my 506K toughness as if it was nothing.
People quote critical save and booster shot combinations as the reason. Well I spammed the hell out of that combo and yes it works for 10 seconds. I restocked four times and those two were still there doing it 15-20 minutes later. A friend and I bugged out at that point went down to DZ01-2 to get our daily/weekly riker and rioter kills etc and we were tearing through the NPCs. I have 32% CHC, 44% enemy armour damage, Brutal, destructive, responsive, unforgiving, vicious, uncomplicated, 55.35% armour mitigation, 235K health (506K toughness) and 360K DPS. But against those two players nothing.
