These last few days have been pretty hectic. People (including me) were confused as **** about this game mechanic.
Apparently, if you max out your "debuff resistance" stat, you can suddenly counter the parry -> guardbreak "combo".
Meaning, if you get parried, you can counter the followup guardbreak attempt.
MEANING, you can not be punished on a successful parry anymore.
MEANING SPAMMING HEAVY ATTACKS AFTER MAXING OUT THIS STAT BECOMES A VIABLE STRATEGY
This is:
1. Game breaking, rewarding low level play, in a way that "mashing buttons" starts being effecting again, to an extent.
2. A complete change in a core mechanic that's been presented since you start playing the game (And also present in 1v1 and 2v2 modes, where gear is automatically disabled by default)
This is so absolutely backwards I can't even tell you, and I sincerely hope this is an un-intended bug. And if not, this needs to change, NOW.
Maybe the new patch will fix this GB issue, but I doubt it. Nothing even remotely similar was presented to us in the patch notes.
I don't see anything wrong with that. The important thing to note here is that they have to successful CGB, which is hard after a parry. If they can do it, then it's high level play and they deserve it. Parry should not be the only counter to heavy attack spam, waiting to get free GB after parry is not something I'd like to see at high level play.Originally Posted by Kav0rk4 Go to original post
Yup. Tested it with every character. Only the Warden =( Also, I'm of the opinion that Heavy Attacks should be viable to actually use in this game. As of right now they are just easy parries to throw people off ledges or get guaranteed damage. I think no GB's should be guaranteed and it would allow for more interesting gameplay. Reversals would be just that and you could actually attack someone without being worried about guaranteed getting wrecked because the opponent just parried you and now you're done. "Spamming" of heavy attacks would only be a problem if you were really, really bad at the game and couldn't parry a damn thing.
You can punish from a heavy attack parry with light attacks and a light attack parry with w/e you want. GB'ing after a parry doesn't, and shouldn't, be a thing. It's why high level play sucks atm.
