🛈 Announcement
Greetings! The For Honor forums are now archived and accessible in read-only mode, please go to the new platform to discuss the game

Please release the option to make characters you have forced to be female male!!!!!!!

Why, oh WHY did you have to add female characters to factions who historically NEVER had a single female fight in armed combat.

It is absolutely ridiculous. Third wave feminism does not belong in video games!! It belongs on twitter where it can be ignored with D Trumps tweets!!!

I do not like playing as female characters unless its realistic of the subject matter! +1 for Lara Croft !

Of course that means a female Viking is reasonable. A female armed knight? are you kidding? Female Japanese warriors LOL. Thats totally Japanese culture! :|.

Now I cant play those characters. For gods sakes.

Years from now I'm going to be getting told about all the female knights in the 12'th century by some gen Y idiot who played your game.

ITS A GAME!!! ITS A BLOODY GAME!!! ITS NOT A POLITICAL STANCE!!! STOP FORCING ME TO ABANDON MY GENDER!!!!

You're right to some extent, but I wouldn't overcomplicate it by assuming it's about feminism and stuff. It's not intended to be historically accurate, I don't remember vikings, knights and samurai fighting over depleting resources in our medieval age. That catastrophe they had might've caused them to give up on some of the traditions and found some new ones. What's to prevent knights from forming a female assassin unit? Or viking women from making a pact with gods to pass those who can't fight into Valhalla? I can understand if you want to play a male nobushi, but it's their design and I don't think it has anything to do with the reasons you've mentioned. And I don't think it's as ridiculous as you see it.

"Historically" speaking, females would fight during these time periods. Viking=shield maidens, Knights= take a look at Joan of Arc.
My dude if you're here for historically accurate playing, you're in the wrong neighborhood.
You don't like playing female characters? Get over it man its a skin rework. Even if it was a male character it would still be played the same. You can't play the character? Is your game malfunctioning? Step down from your high horse for a moment and enjoy the game. Also where the hell did you get a political stance from this???
In your own words: "ITS A GAME!!! ITS A BLOODY GAME!!! So lets play my man

Why does it matter what gender you play as? There were Onna-bugeisha in Japan, albeit rare, they still existed and have documentation to prove it. Tomoe Gozen, Nakano Takeko, and Hōjō Masako are three examples of famous Onna-bugeisha. This is a fantasy game. I seriously doubt someone will play this and then use it as "historical" data to support wide use of female knights in Medieval Europe.

Edit: Also, if you can't play a character, because of a gender lock, you're going to miss out on some very fun characters and video games. Hopefully you'll become confident about your masculinity and realize that playing a female character in a game doesn't make you any less of a man in real life.

I dont think its intended to be historically accurate, Its the inspiration for the game world right? I was expecting a "its not a historically accurate game response" I dont want it to be, but I do want to option to choose to play a historically accurate character. Perhaps I was less clear then I should of been.

My issue is not "WOMEN CANNOT BE KNIGHTS" its that they are saying "MEN CAN NOT BE THESE SORT OF KNIGHTS/ASSASSINS"

Joan of arc was %90 myth, maybe you should look. Again, I didn't say I want a historically accurate game. I want the ability to choose the gender and be slightly less ridiculous, Your at the wrong debate.

They're also saying that women can't be some sorts of knights too. It's just a design choice, they made up some groups that are restricted to one specific gender. It's not a bad choice and most certainly not sexist or feminist or anything.

For me games have always been escapism but I want to feel attached to the character I play, This is a reasonable way to play them and theirs nothing wrong with it.

I don't care about them adding female characters, I care about them removing male ones. that is where my thirdwavefem comments come from. The world is becoming stupidly anti man to satisfy the nagging voices of the few.

Thank you for the absurd comments about my masculinity which have nothing to do with the above mentioned reason I choose characters. Your one of those I'm going to guess what another person is thinking and be sure of it with no evidence people. So I'd address that not my masculinity. I mentioned I loved Lara Croft so your comments are immediately invalid and proving your just here to argue with people and not read the threads whom you insult the OP of.

edit: Also, I did not say I wanted gender lock,... I wanted a choosable gender. Read before you troll/flame it makes it more believable.

Your right they are, In the same way if I released a breastfeeding game and made only one male character I'd be saying the other six mums cannot be men.

you stated: "Why, oh WHY did you have to add female characters to factions who historically NEVER had a single female fight in armed combat." So what are you saying with this line? How is it ridiculous to play a female character?

Also Joan of Arc was 90% myth? You're in need of a history lesson. http://archive.joan-of-arc.org/joano...biography.html Heres a Bio of her. Literally just google this my dude. Look it up in a history book. Female knight who fought for France and was later burned at the Cross.

Wrong debate? You're throwin shade at UBI for making only female characters and that i its not historically accurate. When I come at you with facts, you want to sit there and deny? I understand the concept of wanting to choose the gender, but you've come about requesting it at 110% of a triggered happy man.
