I too was under the impression that assists still counted as a takedown, though I couldn't find anywhere that confirmed that and don't really pay attention to my stats in game except to confirm how badly I am doing when I am getting stomped

I don't have a problem with it. BUT when all you do is literally sit around (aka not doing anything else like capping points or even getting kills yourself) then we have a problem.

Too many executions or unrevivable kills get mucked up because of this behavior, but what is worse is that many of these greedy gamers launch opponents into revenge mode, lead other opponents to blindside you, or ignore the other opponent that has just arrived on the scene.

Stop trying to defend the action he is clearly referring to as anything other than greedy kill thieving. That said, I get why some do it, and don't sweat mass battles that end that way, but it is hardly a productive team behavior.

Best way to avoid kill stealing would be to play duels. Otherwise it's going to happen. The group of friends I play with have no problem with this. We call it kill secure instead of kill stealing. Doesn't matter to us who gets the kill as long as there is a kill.

Honestly guys, if you can't see why this type of behavior is problematic...

First, as I stated above it causes combat problems; hitting teammates, sparking revenge benders, missed executions, and not properly managing all players in the vicinity.

Second, it causes matchup issues; if he's stealing everyone else's kills it is likely he's left their 4th to roam freely.

Third, he's not likely to be capping points or holding points during his speed run.

Fourth, points aren't evenly distributed so it boosts his XP growth while stunting others.

Fifth, with some orders dependent on executions or individual kills it also pushes other players to ignore teamplay if they can't fulfill the orders in the standard course of the game.

There's little that can be done to stop it, but it certainly isn't a great help to anybody else.

As you said there is nothing you can do about it. Basically the only solution is to play 1v1 or not play at all. Never be able to stop people from playing how they want to and in 4v4 people are going to gank. I'm not going to get upset about something I can't change and as I said, someone "stealing" my kills bothers me not at all.

The problem with "team player" in this game's case is that the person stealing the killing blow gets MUCH more renown, and thus gets their Feats available sooner. It's another awful design choice by Ubisoft. Not sure who was in charge of this stuff, but this is the only game I can think of where contribution isn't rewarded more than the killing blow. If I work a guy down to no health and then someone pokes him and steals it they get full renown and I get jack squat.

Yes, There's a disadvantage. It can get your team-mates killed because they might need the execution HP which is vitally important during breaking. I've been killed multiple times by my team-mates doing this because I'm about to execute someone for the HP, and then a full-HP team-mate will step in after I do all of the fighting, take the kill and I'm left with no HP whatsoever while they run and hide, leaving me to fight the next person on my own.

Ontop of that, it keeps the kill from counting towards daily orders, so you're being denied the Steel you worked for.

Yes, Kill stealing DOES harm your team and anyone saying "OH WELL IT JUST MAKES YOU GET MORE EXP" no it doesn't. You get RENOWN for ingame kills, not exp. And it's not shared based on who did the most damage. If you get a full kill + execute, that's practically a full renown level early on. If someone jumps in and steals it, you won't even get a half of a level. It's detremental to you INGAME, To your ORDERS, to your ENDGAME SCORE which also increases your EXP for your Rep levels, AND it means that the person waiting to steal your kill isn't actually off helping the team in a meaningful way. He's LEECHING off of the team, not adding to it, and that in and of itself is enough of a reason to quit the game then and there. You might as well be playing with bots.

It's the entire reason most people stopped playing Dominion and Skrimish. Kill stealing is an issue that needs bans. I don't care if some kid kills himself because he couldn't RUN HIS OWN TEAM INTO THE GROUND BY INTENTIONALLY GIMPING THEM, then no skin off of my nose. Let the guy bleed out, Less cancer for the world to deal with. I'm sick of these self-entitled crap-munchers running around saying "I paid for the game so I can "play" how I want to." when it means they're trying to ruin the game for everyone else who paid the same entry fee. I think kill stealing should be met with bans and team-killing (Hitting your team mates) should result in the person HITTING their team mates to take the damage and stun, not the innocent person who's getting beat on by their "allies".

I've legit been at under a single notch of HP, just about to get an execute, and I'll have some stupid Nobushi or Orochi run up and swing wildly with lights, trying to steal the kill. I either end up getting hit by them mid swing, causing my swing to stop then getting hit and dying, or they kill the person with a light, run off to leave me to fight the incoming party of people coming to revive and I don't have any HP because SOMEONE STOLE THE KILL.

God, This community.....sometimes I honestly wish the development team at ubisoft would all get fired and bring in some people that actually play games and want to have fun in them and have THOSE people design the games. Not these idiots that make games that punish you for trying to be a decent player and playing the game the way it was designed to be played. The entire ****ing combat system is focused on on-on-one combat and yet they reward you for teaming up on people, steaing kills, killing your team-mates and do nothing to people that are reported. I want to see these people who team kill get banned, not just have my report float off into space and never get seen or dealt with. =/
