From what i've heard the Closed beta was in a pretty bad optimization state, even for better rigs which made me really worried.
seeing the official system requirements seem to affirm my worries that the game might be poorly optimized.
On my rig (i7 4770 @ 3.4ghz, 8GB ram, R9 280 3GB Vram, win10) i can run every game on High, 1080p on about 40fps (and im perfectly fine with that) and from what i read and heard i could never achieve that on GR:W. Benchmarks of the CB showed very poor framerate as well.
i am worried that the optimization of the OB will be the same as the CB and it will drive me to refrain from getting the game. at least on launch.
Is there any official word from UBI if the game have been farther optimized since the CB and if the OB will represent the optimization of the full game on release?!
On a side subject -
My CPU is a bit old but havent given me much issues with open world games so far. What kind of issues can a slow CPU give in a game like this? is it a limit on FPS, stuttering during gameplay or simply longer loading times (which i dont mind waiting a minute longer for the game to load once per session)?
Well, if you want to take notes from someone considered a nagger... here it is
My rig is older than yours and like you, I don't mind nor care to play a shooter game at one gazillion FPS and 30 fps is ok for me... but eye candy has never been a deal breaker for me. I played the CB and the only thing that perplexed me a bit is that the VRAM of my Video Card (2GB) was quickly filled up but the 8GBs or Ram were barely touched but I don't understand this as much as others do. In the end, I did not have issues with lag or long loading periods but I was not pushing to test those things... my thoughts were more on testing the ai.
I did feel a little lag between switching between TPV and FPV when aiming down the sights but I figure the lag came from being online and hoped that once I play it offline, the lag will go away... here's hoping.
I do suspect that what has happened in the past is what is happening here now... they worked on optimizing the console which is more of a stable platform and then they made some tweaks for the PC instead of the other way around. I say this because even though the options had some changes when I try using shadows (as an example), it did change on the options but I did not see that much of a change during gameplay. Some people like to play at super duper high max settings and I believe is overkill but that is why they spend the money they do on their rig so they have a right to complain that the game is badly optimized.
My fps sometimes dropped to about 35FPS but normally its was between 45 and 60 on ultra.
I don't think they had enough time to optimize the engine between closed and open beta/final release, but maybe the optimization will come with future updates/patches.
Just try it inopen beta and see if its works for you.

what rig do you have?
For me, i really dont mind lowering AA a bit and also shadow resolution down to medium (and in some cases even low), since in reality shadows are not always crips and sharp anyways, so smudged shadows arent "unrealistic". they just look like shadows when it's a tad cloudy.
However, from the videos i've seen of GR:W the tessellation on the ground makes a HUGE difference as well as shadows draw distance and i really hope these are features i can push up. i must admit that the higher settings in GRW look significantly better than what the xbox1 and PS4 look like, and usually the difference between these consoles and PC are practically invisible in videos since they mostly revolve around resolution, frame-rate and AA, but there is something nice going on with the lighting of this game. i guess i will have to live without it.
i just really want to play with the tessellation on the ground. THAT is the single biggest difference that make ground look so much better in this game than in any other rural game i've seen since the ground doesnt look like a flat texture in places where there is no grass that covers it. besides some rare games (like Crysis) most games dont use this technology.
As long as :
- the camera rotation still "stutter" have "jerky" movement
- the helicopter piloting isnt correctly revamped
- Driving is still that slippery
- AI is still super dumb & useless
- Open world that horribly empty of occupation once you have ended the missions
- OPTIMIZATION ( even tho, considering the watch dogs 2 situation where they still dont optimize sh#t.... guess nothing will change )
- cancer denuvo
Guess i will clearly dont buy the game, or i will wait to be able to buy it at 20-30€

A bit outdated but so far, none of the games have given me any issues. I don't play around with the video options that much because I know I don't have a strong rig nor I care all that much as long as the graphics are decent. I pay more attention to the real gameplay (ai, weapons mechanics and ergos, etc,) than hollywood-esque eye candy.
I may update soon just because newer cards are cheaper now and I can spend less on last year top drawers than the new car smell of right now.
