I didnt realize this until I was playing through the Story and got to the Valkyrie part, and noticed my guard change and blocking was super responsive, just like I remembered it being in the beta with my Nobushi. I thought "Hey, maybe they patched while I was taking a break from this game since I am so frustrated" finished the part of the story, and immediately went in to practice on a bot with Nobushi and get a feel for the guard change speed.
NOPE
Changing guard in Nobushi is SUPER SUPER slow, which is even more of a problem because I play with Mouse and Keyboard. To see what I mean, go into How To Play, and duel any bot. Try as Valkyrie and go into guard and just see how quickly you change directions wiggling as fast as you can. Now, quit the match and do it again with Nobushi..... WTF?!?!?! The Speed I can change my guard direction is SLOWER THAN I CAN BE ATTACKED.
No freaking wonder I was getting trounced and couldnt figure out why, after the responsiveness of the beta, they changed something before release
So. of course, I went and tried several other heros, even the Shoguki can change guard faster than Nobushi, closest other I could find that was slow was Lawbringer.
Most heroes seem to be VERY responsive.
Now, I assume this was intended, but I gotta say, it is a BAD IDEA for a fighting game. Everyone should be able to change direction as fast. It should be consistent, please give me a GAMEPLAY reason why this should not be the case. Especially with Mouse and Keyboard, because if I try to change guard direction before I am "allowed" it will not change at all, not like it buffers it up, or I can hold the mouse in a direction like I can a controller stick.
To me this is a huge issue, if they are gonna be different, it should be very minimally different, and at most based on their size. I cannot think of any reason why the Nobushi should change guard direction so slowly.
I am open to opinions on this, but to me it seems wrong if they want to call this a fighting game. Recovery from getting hit That could maybe be OK, recovery after heavy swings or getting parried? I can see this making sense. But in a STAPLE MECHANIC like guard direction, this is a gamebreaker for me... or at least is gonna keep me from playing Nobushi well, which is sad... I know some people play her cheesy, but I enjoyed this hero alot and this makes her very hard to use against any players with any smidge of skill.
Knowing this, I can now try and trick some of these heroes into changing their direction and KNOW they cannot change it fast enough to counter a light attack from certain classes... to me that is not OK.
