I actually really like how the bots play. Level 3 bots often feint, mix in GBs, and apply heavy pressure. They force you to learn how to defend yourself, and I use them regularly to help bone up on my reflexes.
Yes, they are difficult. Yes, they spam. Yes, they'll kill you.
But yes, they're really, really good practice. If you want to practice combos, work on a Bot 0. If you want to practice parries, work on a Bot 1. If you want to work on defending yourself, work on a Bot 3.
Most of the time they come at you hard until they are out of stam, then back up. Play with feints, GBs, parries, etc. Get better at the game. They are there to practice against.
So, I took a screenshot while doing a Dominion match, of a soldier floating in mid air, way far away from where he should have been, not moving. You could go through him and everything; I noticed this in various places as well. You can find the screen shots at RaketeAufDenMond via Steam profile
The AI in the game needs tweaking to act more like human players would.
As it is right now, level 3 bots are bizarrely overly good at blocking/parrying ALL light attacks and interrupting ALL guard breaks, yet weirdly incompetent at defending themselves against heavies (say what????). They're so far away from human behavior that I can't possibly see how fighting them would improve your play. All it did for me was help me build up some smart habits for my Nobushi, but the rest of the time I spent so much time spamming heavies, which is something I would NEVER do against a human player. It also makes it incredibly obvious just how overpowered parrying is - most level 3 bots are trivially beaten by just parrying -> guard break -> heavy chaining them to death.
They need work. They should be modeled closer to real human behavior, rather than being this weird sort of impenetrable-except-when-they're-not mix.
It sounds like you spent too much time just trying to abuse the bot's flaws instead of using it for practice. It is going to be highly aggressive, so pick a bot for a class you have difficulty with and practice blocking, parrying and guard break teching. They are there for practice and can be exploited to win but who cares if you beat a bot? It is just to target practice mechanics, imo.Originally Posted by Zyrusticae Go to original post
