Hey, so I am fairly new, been playing the peacekeeper. About level 12.
When I first started playing the tutorial told me several times that to block I move my mouse in the direction that attacks are coming from. Then later it told me that if I right click while I do that I will parry the attack. It works in the story mode pretty well, but when I start to fight against other players my character almost never guards against attacks. I have googled and googled for advice on how to overcome this, and I have asked other people in game, but I have not found an answer that helps me yet. I have tried doing it quickly, I have tried delaying it, and I have tried everything in between.
I have read that peacekeepers cant keep blocking in the same direction for a long time, but I rarely block any attacks at all, let alone multiple ones. I have read that something flashes when I can parry, but I don't think I have seen anything like that. I will have to continue watching closer for that.
Any tips are appreciated.
One thing to remember with assassin's is that you have to hold the guard in the direction you are trying to block. If you release it goes back to unguarded. It also may be a lag issue from the P2P networksOriginally Posted by Zezockary Go to original post
I am using a mouse right now, how do I hold in a direction?Originally Posted by Killimanjaro007 Go to original post
I thought it might be lag, I may go into a duel and just block the entire time to see if it is a network issue or if I am just messing up. I was thinking on it and I may be moving my mouse back to the center of my mousepad subconsciously. If I am it would probably be too hard to retrain myself, so I would switch to a controller if that doesn't completely gimp me.
EDIT: I am now certain that moving my mouse back to the center of the pad is not the issue. I see the attack coming, I move the mouse in the direction the attack is coming at me, that section of my marker thing lights up, then I get hit. I did this for about 3 rounds in 1v1 with someone and it still hit me about half the time. I don't think I am timing it close enough for lag to matter, I am guarding as soon as the indicator turns red. I also did not see any other indication of lag. I still don't see whatever flashes I am supposed to be seeing. Someone said the reason none of my dodging worked is because I am not timing with those, I assume it is the same with parrying, although the fact that the blocks don't seem to be coming out in the first place could be hindering that as well.
i experience this as well. i play berserker (assassin class on PC mouse and keyboard) and i find that on some pvp matches i can block/perry no problem and other times is doesnt work.
i am unsure if this is the class i am playing against OR the internet connection. (currently, i am leaning towards the internet connnection being the culprit.)
you may try custom matches with a friend to try and really nail down what the issue is for you.
good luck!
Maybe it has something to do with the unique blocking styles of our characters then? Our blocking is the same. I will try the warden or something later and see if I still have the issue.Originally Posted by W1zuhD Go to original post
Practice with the Conqueror. He's got a great solid block. And he can block both heavy and light. So you'll be able to test your blocking timing etc. Then try on your chosen class. Remember the assassins can only block for a short time before the block time outs. So you have to time their blocks very well.Originally Posted by Zezockary Go to original post
Wait, you can't block heavy attacks? I thought you only couldn't block unblockable attacks! Also, I only played one game as warden, I only want to play peacekeeper. None of the other classes appeal to me. I would rather quit the game than have to play a different class.Originally Posted by MajorCheeseUK Go to original post
I knew about the short block time, but I am talking about blocking right before the attack.
Also, someone told me about something called "deflecting" earlier when I asked someone about blocking in game. He said you have to dodge into an attack. When I dodge into an attack I just get hit. I thought he was trying to troll me but then I read it somewhere else when I was looking for a move that another peacekeeper did to me, so is that actually a thing you can do?
I am seriously confused on everything about this game, and it is getting to the point where I can't even score a single hit on people most of the time. Someone told me about doing this 1v1 duel thing and it takes me like 5 lives to take out a single one of them. I just want to know how to play this game so I can finally move on to having fun playing it =.= It looks so fun.
Oh, and there for a moment I thought I figured out why all of my blocks were failing. Oh well, hopes down again =.=Originally Posted by Te_Wheke Go to original post
I concur. When I play orochi, sometimes it blocks like a charm and other time it refuses to block (I see the black attack angle move but the white block angle never shows).
Warden, Warlord, Lawbringer, Shugoki, and Conqueror all work find though. It's only when I play an assassin class they refuse to block.
