So I just hit 80 hours invested into the game and i gotta say I love it. That being said there's a few things that aren't bad but really should be done better. So ill list them and my ideas to fix them in order of easiest to fix to hardest to fix. Then ill tell you what i think for honor 2 should have/
1) The faction war and loot
Problems: The faction war system is a cool idea but its not translated very well. For the first issue adding resources to an area has no tangible feeling of having done anything and so i have no reason to particularly care and perhaps even more importantly as it is now i have no idea how much power i have. IF add 10000 resources to an area what does that mean? all i see is a percentage bar that may not even move.
As for the loot system its a very fun idea but I despise how its only impact is statistical in a game with as little story as what you have and with as little characterization of your champions as what you have customization is everything. equipped loot should change the character appearance
my idea:
Turn the resources we gain into money. We can buy skins and loot with it or we can use it to buy soldiers and siege engines to go help our faction take a territory if they take a territory we get random loot or more money out of it based on how much we put in.
2) not enough dialogue and poor dialogue choices.
Problem: Theres just not enough dialogue in the game and what dialogue there is is mostly throwaway lines that do nothing to enhance the experience. I realize its not a narrative focused game but come on man. You have some very cool world ideas and the dialogue you get from observable was nice but in your story mode only having them repeat 1 line over and over for the boss fights got really old really fast and the utter lack of dialogue in multiplayer is also weird.
my idea: you've already established that your using a first person narrative style. Honestly just a bit of clever writing delivered to us from the characters perspective could help keep the player informed of the situation on the battlefield and would really enrich the game. For example when your in 2v2 brawl and your ally dies having your character offer a brief line not only lets me know more about my situation and helps me play better it can also depending on how its delivered tell me about the characters personality. Like I imagine the warden would say it like "two against one , I need to watch my back. " while the raider would just yell out " valhallla!"
3) Bland game play modes.
problem: your story mode felt amazing and your multiplayer duels like elimination and brawl feel really good too. Your skirmishes and domination matches though are much less fun. They're very bland and fit the game poorly.
my idea: Skirmish-should be adapted to work in reverse instead of counting up to 1000 count down so that each point is a soldier and do it up old school star wars battlefront style. maybe even enable players to spend their points on useful items like arrow storms, catapult strikes and poison traps. Maybe you should even have players lose the points they gained from killing mobs go to the player who killed them.
Domination: Your story levels got this so right so i was sad to see it not carried over to this game mode. Right now your mobs only run to one point and they dont even help you all that much. It doesn't feel like the epic battle its supposed to be. To fix that heres what you do pick your one point where the mobs congregate its usually the messiest one. you can only gain points for controlling that one what the other points do provide things to help your team or hinder the enemy team. For example controlling point summons archer squads to rain down fire arrows on the objective while taking point b maybe opens a gate so you can get to the point faster or causes more powerful mob allies to spawn or just more mobs. I mean there is a whole host of interesting effects that could be assigned to a point.
For real bonus points id have the point move with whoever is controlling it along a fixed path the same fixed path the mobs use and the game ends when the point reaches the enemy base or when time ends whichever side the point is on is the loser.
also having at least some mobs trying to take other points than the one would be nice.
For honor 2 ideas
1) cavalry : There's no getting around the importance of Calvary on an ancient battlefield the samurai were master horsemen before being master archers. wether its as an item or a mob type Calvary and the ability to ride a horse should appear in for honor 2.
2) mob types and formations: Your standard infantry form nice pretty little phalanxes but it doesnt do much. Having mobs be more effective if they can form a complete formation is one way to add complexity and realism to the game also adding mob types. Spear mobs and crossbowmen come to mind first as both intriguing and dangerous. Also mobs using environmental defenses like ballista or pouring boiling oil down a murder hole.
3) Enviromentality: Your story maps had nice enviromentailty but your muiltplayer maps need work the only environmental thing is falling. You gotta mix it up for example i loved the breaking mechanic lets see more of that on multiplayer maps also spikes to kick people into as well as other kinds of interactive traps and defenses.
personally id love to see a naval level where the players are on ships that are all crashing into each other and fighting so it bunch of boarding planks and ships crashed into each other for a field layout.
