    countering side attacks

Im having alot of trouble with characters like the berserker and the orochi with their ability to do dodge attacks. now i'm not sure how to exactly counter this type of fighting. when i attack they dodge to the opposite side and attack so i began to think. if i attack in the direction they are going to dodge attack in then that should in theory hit them correct? well i tried that and it didn't work which makes no sense to me. so i started waiting for them to attack so they cant dodge hit me. any tips on this

To fighting against this, you basically don't want to make predictable moves. Do feint attacks to bait them to dodge, then parry their "dodge attack" and punish them. This game is about making less mistakes than your opponent. If you're attacking predictably and allowing them to dodge and punish you, then you need to have more variety and be more creative.

Guard Break is supposed to counter dodge, although sometimes the lock-on is funky and you'll still miss. Typically, thought, a Guard Break will interrupt and counter a dodge. Also, in my experience, a heavy attack that you start just after your opponent starts to dodge will often hit them when they finish the dodge if the swing is going the correct way. Typically, Orochis and Berserkers will follow up their dodge with an attack - if you learn the parry timing for that attack, you can get back on the offensive.
