To me she came off as a **** tier villain. Felt like she was being evil just for the sake of being evil or just because she's crazy so it felt like uninspired, lazy writing. The premise of her wanting everyone to be murdering everyone because she doesn't want people to be weak did not work for me. It seemed like too nonsensical of a driving motive.

Aesthetically, I think her physical design is pretty good except for her face always being hidden inside her helm. And in a game where I felt like most of the voice acting sounded bad or out-of-place, her's was okay.

that's the point. she wages war for the sake of war. not some higher purpose, or some other hypocrite bs. she fights and wages war bc this is what her nature, what out nature is.
and since Knights, vikings, and samurai have forgotten it, she came to remind them about it.

She can't be dead, she's the one narrating the whole thing. Kinda hard to do that if you died.

Also, can you even get her armor and sword at any point as a Knight? Like at high level gear?
nope. but you can personalize your own to look like it.
ex: you can pick as material for knights armor - black steel
as for everything else i dunno

I can only judge her by what I've seen on screen, not by what she may or may not have gone through in imaginationland.

Gudmundr (the viking boss with the winged helm and the wolves) managed to tell a more compelling story without a single line of dialogue in the game. The story of an honorable man, who fought for his freedom, his people and his home...and ultimately lost. When the flames swallowed his home, that was the moment you could see he gave up on life. You could literally hear his spirit break through the crackling of the fires.

Nappolyon on the other hand is just some token female Warhammer Chaos Warrior copycat in some edgelord armor that screams "look at me: I'm the embodiment of evil". If she was real, she'd probably be the only person in this game who bought the shadow mood effect on executions and emotes. But waaaaaaait, she's not that kind of girl. She's different because she desperately insists on being the misunderstood and sane kind of warmongering villain, who's only trying to set her misguided children free. She's intoduced as this Darth Vader-esque uber-badarse and just like the villain she's based on, she didn't do anything notable on screen to earn that reputation, or live up to it. My Warden killed entire armies all by himself and her only notable deed on screen was to arrive just in time to killsteal. Bleach please, who's the real badarse here? He doesn't even need a "demon name". Heck, now that I think of it he doesn't even need a name.

I mean, it's almost comedy when everyone realizes she's evil, as if nobody could have guessed it by her edgelord-attitude. Do all the knight characters have less brain cells than they have lines of dialogue in the story?

She could have been cool - but ultimately she just turned into a one-dimensional, mustachio-twirling, nonsensical bad-guy. She really needed more supporting material to flesh her out and give purpose to her personal quest to plunge the entire world into war. She needed to be creating her 'wolves' for a bigger over-all reason than just to sew chaos.

    Spoilers ahead.

I was excited at first because the path she was weaving seemed to be pointing to her not being completely mortal.. or at least having some key insight into the future. I was thinking she was going to either turn out as being some sort of messenger sent to ready the mortal realm for impending war (weeding out the weak, making room for the strong within the limited resources of the post-cataclysm world) - or possibly a supernatural agent of some type.. a literal Angel of Destruction.

I'm also not entirely convinced this isn't still the case - and that she's actually dead. She narrates a majority of the story, as well as all of the 'observables' you find throughout the level - pretty much exclusively in the past-tense. You also see the main story missions take place years in the past (denoted in the menu when selecting the missions). Also, in one of the observables she describes the Centurions we all descended from, how people talk about them as myth, but she claims to have actually met them.. which, along with the completely untouched upon source of the cataclysm, leaves a bunch of room for them revisit Apollyon in the future.

    2 Edgy 4 Me

To be honest after so many jrpgs villains of different games (1990 - 2005 mostly)

She is pretty lame.... lets make war because.... reasons (not even a economical one), ohhhhh yeaaahhhh look at my black armorr soo coooolll, join the dark side you get to wear black, and look at this cape, girls dig the cape.

You can be edgy, but you must have reasons.
