the nobushi's range and recovery are so fast after her light attacks that 2 things happen:
- if you deflect ANY of her light attacks (normal or mid-combo) into a shoulder-pin, the pin will get AUTO-BLOCKED.
- if you light-parry (parry with light attack instead of heavy) ANY of her light attacks into the "guaranteed" counter damage, this will also get AUTO-BLOCKED.
it works normal against the nobushis heavy attacks, but it will NEVER work against light attacks.
video showcasing the problem (see dispription for times)
this NEEDS an adjustment, as it renders half the valks defense completely useless against a Nobushi AND leaves you open for a counter after the auto-block.
tested this against the Shugoki as well, but it works normally there (need to test lawbringer later on)
The Valkyrie's description says she is adaptable , so she should be able to adapt to any character . The nobushi has every advantage on her except for push distance. The shield doesn't block quickly enough on some combos such as the kick to bleeding stab. It's not an unblockable move since it isn't orange but it always lands no matter what you do.
The stab after the kick is guaranteed on anybody as far as I know.Originally Posted by agentpoop Go to original post
need to try if you could get a guaranteed shield-crush her after a parry... but with nobushis fast recovery thats probably not gonna happen either XD
edit:
ok went into custom game with a bot (cause none is online to help me test -.-) to test that and here is what i've found:
parry -> shoulder-charge:
the level 3 nobushi bot wasnt able to avoid the charge but you need to be quick with inputing the heavy-GB combo to trigger the shield-crush.
problem is: you are almost in the same spot as before: no guaranteed damage and she can avoid your leg-sweep and dodge/block/parry any normal attack and even counter a normal GB.
sure its a better mixup than "parry->forward-dodge->anything" but nothing amazing a skilled player wouldnt be ready for (at least after you've done it once)
deflect->shoulder-pin->follow up:
so i've tested some possible follow ups for the shoulder-pin as the enemy is staggered for a bit after hitting it.
you cannot get a guaranteed guardbreak, as a guardbreak input will trigger a shield-crush as it counts the shoulder-pins heavy attack to trigger it (which is quite stupid as the shoulder-pin doesnt count as a heavy-attack to start a combo from.
so you can use the shield-crush into leg-sweep, but the enemy can dodge the sweep (cant avoid the shield-crush).
stagger-time is too short and your recovery-time is too long to land any guaranteed attack (light or heavy) after the shoulder-pin
so yeah, you are left with either doing a shoulder-crush or doing anything else which can ALL be countered (nothing but the shield-crush is guaranteed after a shoulder-pin.
i hope this changes with the patch which we are waiting for since last week -.-
