Warlord: What should I learn first?

Hey everyone, I decided to unlock Warlord first because I like the classic sword and shield style plus on Xbox I wasn't running into many using him. In AI or group games I do ok with him and he seems tailored toward helping allies. However in duels I get completely demolished by anything faster (which is all the more popular characters like Orochi, Peacekeeper, Nobushi especially is awful). I'm brand new so part of it is just timing blocks / parries but bottom line what should I be doing when fighting super fast enemies?

so much stuff to say, but best way for you to see is to watch a decent warlord fight a faster hero and learn from what their doing.

In addition to the core skills of just getting the hang of landing your blocks and countering guardbreaks, Warlord has a few specific tricks you might want to focus on learning in order to grasp the basics of the class.

First, he has uninterruptible heavy attacks. These are a bit of a "noob trap," in that they encourage bad play if you don't know what you're doing - it's easy to just swing swing swing swing and rely on their uninterruptibility to carry you. Avoid this temptation. It's a powerful ability, but against fast assassin characters you will get punished hard for doing this. Chill out and stay defensive against Orochis and other fasties.

The second trick to learn is his Full Block - Headbutt - Stab combo. It's pretty easy to execute, and will catch most other beginning and intermediate players off guard. Full Block against an incoming strike, follow-up with a guardbreak (which performs your Headbutt). If the Headbutt lands, which is likely, then with good timing you can get a free light attack stab which is a guaranteed hit if you time it correctly.

Thanks for the replies, videos do help me think about it and completely correct about the uninterruptible part; that was my biggest problem I realized. I had learned that my heavy strikes did that, but the fast enemies will take the trade and still get another stab afterwards so they make it pointless. I didn't even know he had that all guard stance when I made this post but that saves my life now sometimes. Not good with the headbutt yet but I know that'll be the next step. I love how he has a lot of passive feats, he is a predictable but solid character.
