I'm agree with the change, the way GB currently work is a problem since, if both players are GBing at the same time the game seem to randomly pick the winner.
The consequences of a GB are way too big for a gamble. This is not going to make the counter of a GB easier since it's a tool used as a mix up when you're opponent don't expect it.
the problem is not that currently, if people gb at the same time, one wins. the problem is, that in that case that gb is not techable, it cant be broken. thats the real problem. and no one is arguing that that should not be fixed. but it should be possible to fix this without making counter guard breaking even easier than it is right now. at good skill level, people guard break really really consistently with the current system (ignoring those "same time guardbreaks" that result in not techable gbs).

there seem to be a TON of people on this forum who expect to be spoon fed everything. they can not block the most telegraphed abilities, they can not counter guard break and instead of spending the time to learn it, they cry on the forums. how do you think other people managed to learn? not by having super human reflexes but simply by spending some time on the mechanics of this game.
i REALLY hope the devs do not make the mistake to listen to all those care bears, who ruined enough games already. what do you think makes a game like for honor interesting in the long run? A HIGH SKILL CEILING. do you really believe that anyone - even those that cry "make this or that easier" - will play this game in a couple of weeks, if all it takes is mashing a couple of buttons? what else does this game offer without a high skill ceiling and mechanics to learn and to improve? barely anything. the people who want easy mode will play this game for a couple of weeks one way or another and quit. to make people stay you need mechanics that are hard to master.
It's easy for people who have the timing down to come onto the forum and say "Hey, don't make this any easier."
The reality for me is I have been unable to understand the timing at all. During the beta I was kind of okay, since release I don't think I've countered a single GB on purpose. I'm not a fighting game aficionado, I'm not amazing at games like this. I'm about as average as they come and not being able to counter GB is punishing me greatly against characters who rely on it or excel at throwing people off of cliffs. I'm not alone either as I have several friends who have not been able to nail down the timing and we all find it extremely frustrating.
I mean being punished for going for the counter too early, when the icon appears on the other player, is just bs imo.
I fully support the fix.
If you do the advanced practice it tells you to time your GB to the start of theirs. This is wrong, as it doesn't work as intended. You have to wait till its closer to hitting you and you have an extremely small window. If you miss it.. GG enviro kill or guaranteed combo hit to death. Its to easy in its current state to guarantee kills.
It is based from who presses it First, even if slightly. I am sure plenty of you have pressed it right after someone else - just to get caught and be unable to tech. Thats all there is to it. I may look like its "at the same time" but in reality the time window between you and your opponent pressing it is simply shorter. You can see it quite easily if your eyes are fast enough to catch it, or you are simply not in a moment of panic ( its pretty easy to get caught up in this game)![]()
I find it amusing to see the people who claim they've "mastered" the current counter guardbreak timing as actually the ones who abuse and initiate the first guardbreak.
They're merely looking for an "accredited" and misleading excuse not to fix the current state of GB so that they can continue to abuse it.
I've tried all sorts of timing in testing with a friend 1v1. Late, early, and all delays in between. Counter guardbreak works, but definitely not as intended. It felt random and sledom.
Kudos to those that get lucky counter guard breaks enough times to think they're good at it and believe there are no issues.
The change will be welcomed by the majority of players.
Jump into a game with a level 3 bot and don't attack, just work on blocking, parrying and guard break counter and you'll start to get the hang of it, the timing is slightly different for each hero but I find I can block about 33% of them now from absolutely none a few days ago. I do agree the guard break at the same time thing definitely needs to be fixed though.
GB is cancer for this game .... only lamer in duel that spam gb 20 time or more ..... this is patetic ...
GB is ezy to counter but LAMER spam on you 20 / 30 time for single duel .... you can counter 25 and die for other 5 .... is ****ing BORING and i tired to spend my time in duel ONLY to counter GB .
GB need to be a hight StAMINA skill more than Hard attack ... if you miss the time to gb or some one counter you can not spam that for some time like a **** autistic lamer
