A lot of people, there's more in the gaming world than PvP. I cut my teeth on the original Doom, Quake, Quake 2, Half Life, and I could list dozens more. I bought the Witcher 3 -- no PvP, one of the best games I've ever played. Diablo 3, it has PvP somewhere in there, never touched it. Dishonored, Dishonored 2 (and so on).

Not every games are meant to be played as pvp game.

I do like pvp games, but i also do like a lot good & well made soloplayer games ( or coop )
Wildland still have a long way to go, but, yeah.

Me, I couldn't care less if it had PVP. Too few games have a good single player experience these days and focus almost entirely on PVP.

Frankly only teenagers buy pvp games just to grief as they all do in any possible pvp game out there that requires 0 skill.
Because playing a real pvp games like league or Dota requires way too much brain power for those folks.

PvP works best in tight confined places. So that one can feel the thrill of hunting or being hunted.

GRW is a huge open world, where you have to take a helicopter and fly for 10 mins before finding somebody to kill.

Poor fit for PvP. Definitely a poor fit.

The only way it would work, or one of the only ways: Locked off areas of the map, objective based gameplay... regular deathmatch would fall flat. But then, why bother, there's Battlefield which pretty much covers that. I'm happy that GRW has no PvP at launch to be honest, I can dive in with friends or solo and enjoy the game without being teabagged by a 12 year old. You'd need huge numbers for PvP to work in GRW too, unless it was objective based attack/defend a base etc.

Kind of like how some of the modes worked on RDR and GTA Online.
