Sorry to hear you are having controller issues! Thank you for reporting this issue. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Are you playing through Steam? We have seen the following workaround(s) for other players who have reported this issue:
1.) Close the Game
2.) Remove your controller from the generic steam controller support:
3.) Go to Big Picture -> Settings -> Controller Settings -> remove the checkmarks from xbox/ps4 configuration support.
If you continue to have issues, please try an alternate method:
4.) Close the Game
5.) Use Steam controller configuration:
6.) Go to Big Picture mode, select For Honor and [Manage Game]->[Controller Configuration]->[Browse Configs]->[Recommended]->[Official FOR HONOR steam controller Configuration]->[Apply Configuration]
After selecting this configuration, you should be able to rebind your controls as you wish.
If you continue to have issues, or if you are playing on Uplay directly, please contact technical support directly and we can look into this for you.

/u/mrericpope Why is this so hard to just let the players customize their controller layout? I don't understand the reason behind it. Why? I just want to UNBIND the "change/refresh targets" button (which is tied to the right stick) so it doesnt happen on accident when I change my guard. Because it happens all the time. It is so easy to accidentaly press the right stick when you change the side you guard, and it ****s you over so much when you change/refresh the target instead of parrying or blocking the enemy that is right in your face.

indeed, this sucks so hard. I'll parry a enemy, but I'll lock on to an other enemy, and I miss my parry. In some cases I do the parry, but I can't hit the enemy because I'll have to relock onto the enemey I parried. Before that happens, He is already ready to block my attacks :s

Exactly. Fighting multiple opponents is a ****ing switchtarget-fest. So annoying.
Would you kindly get back to it and do sth about this? The new layouts would not help here either more so if you would choose one with GB on R3 it would screw you over in any fight, even duels as it does if you use the L3 lock cancel by activating running option (http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php...nning-enabled)

Same problem with Xbox 360 controller on PC (Uplay). Target switching or unlock, if I do any attack and parry, when "Lock Toggle (Gamepad)" is ON in options. Tested another xbox 360 gamepad and change buttons, but it's not helped.

Solution: Turn off "Lock Toggle (Gamepad)" and just hold it.
