Looking at the chart... conqueror gets screwed across the board in the damage department.
Weakest heavy attack, weakest light attack both for first hit and for 2 hit combo sum, no dodge attack or running attack that deals damage.
I wondered why I was the only person playing him and why in brawl I would consistently get 2v1'd. Now I know why.
It's like the dev's were like "25 is the magic number and the conqueror doesn't get to get there no matter what".
I used to enjoy being able to do well 2v1 but with these new characters that can just pick you up and disable your defense for half an hour, my all-block stance is substantially less useful. It might be time to find a new main.
Warden is broken AF maybe I'll jump on the "me too" bandwagon.
Conqueror is very strong - My Warlord friend and I decimated the 2v2 reddit tournament with conq+warlord combo, dropping only 2 rounds and 0 games across the entire thing. All block was always useless.Originally Posted by Peligrad Go to original post
Nothing has changed since any of the betas, conqueror's heavy always dealt less than 1 bar of HP. I'm not particularly happy about it like the rest of you, but it's always been like that.
FYI he's listed as a heavy hitter because of his charged heavy (even though it does less than Nobushi overhead...)
Aaripian, I'm a fan of yours and you are excellent with Conq; but the entirety of Conq playstyle revolves around the shield slam and wall-stagger mechanics. In an open area these aren't good options. You're well aware that without the charged attack (which vs experienced players is easily countered) the Conq is the lowest damage in the game. Having A single effective gimmick (shieldbash/heavy chain combo) does not make a class "very strong", and I'm sure you've also noticed they're the least-played class.Originally Posted by Aarpian2 Go to original post
I personally love the conqueror playstyle, and enjoyed it very much in CB/OB, but now that more people are learning its (limited) set of capabilities and what to watch out for / play around, I'm playing other classes till a mechanics change (maybe even just GBC).
Again, much respect. You're a very skilled player and would be good with any class, as things stand now I don't feel I can be competitive with Conq outside Dominion. I'm not the best, but I'm confident I'm above the average player and would really like things to change for the better for him.

Anyway, doesn't change anything and yes Conqueror is quite strong in capable hands against some opponents. But Issue remains and it's totally arbitrary as to why (bars being 25hp, HP regenerating to full bar, people running to abuse this). Remember that all classes can kill you with a simple heavy landing while you need to chain perfect combos without the opponent being able to move out of range at any point, or they'll just reset the bar. May seem futile but when skill is about equal and it comes down to clutch moments, this makes it almost impossible to kill anyone unless they just fumble completely somehow.
Conq has one of the hardest hitting running attacks in the game. If you connect with the shield bash knockdown you get a free heavy. His dash attack is a shield bash that connects to a free light, so it also effectively deals damage. Conq is fine imo. His shield bash spam is pretty cheesy against slower classes, to be honest, especially against a Lawbringer that can't punish it after dashing, but... that's Lawlbringer for you.Originally Posted by Peligrad Go to original post
He is not a top tier class, but he has some tricks. E.g. he has deflect, meaning he automatically blocks an attack if you dash into and, since it's superior block, you will be able to punish every attack like that besides PK's zone attack if they dash out immediately, but that one is just broken, we have to live with it. So, against Wardens, you can leave your block at left side to ward off their ZAs and dodge forward on reaction if they top light you, they will recoil and you get a guaranteed shield bash into light. Conq's feints have a potential to be ridiculously good. He's the only class besides Berserker than can feint lights. It's just that your range is so low the speedy characters just constantly keep away from you and your feints do nothing to threaten them. I've yet to even start getting good with them, however.I cannot see how Conqueror is going to be viable at higher levels. No real mixups, poor damage, no proper feint.

Also keep in mind those 'shield bash into light' combos are only dealing 12 damage, and the "conq feint" leveraging the all-block stance is another significant stamina investment to pull off (due to the activation cost of all-block).
None of these are a problem, but they are by no means overpowered. Due to the lack of variety in the Conqs skillset it is easy to predict and, with skill, punish.
