*** do not read unless you have completed story mode *** spoilers ***

Okay, seriously Ubisoft, what the actual hell were you people thinking with this? Realistic Difficulty. It's nice, I like it, I like the idea of not depending on the guard indicators. But this specific mode unlocks certain things and colors, symbols, emblems, etc, and trophies. Which I'm getting. Anyway, onward to the matter at hand. Your ****ty story and it's terrible "boss" fights.

Boss fights are of course, broken as f*ck. Enemy AI can move faster, they attack faster, they hit harder, and they have perfect god d*mn blocking, parrying and sidestepping. All faster than you allow PLAYERS to even move around.

Chapter 1 was full of aneurysms, ulcers, straight up aids. Again, it begins with the "boss" fights. Ridiculous amounts of health, an insane amount of damage output and yet, the player can only do so much. We can't upgrade our gear, we can't equip new gear or weapons, we're stuck with very select Story Mode Feats, which, more than half of them are truly useless. Your range comes short of your enemies, all of them, your damage is so minimal unless you have a damage boost passive or damage resistance passive, even then it provides little help. You're stuck with specific characters throughout the story, which I strongly dislike, and I'm sure other people agree with me too. A lot of these heroes are so opposite each other's playstyles that everything just feels....what's the word.... CLUNKY. CLUMBSY. AWKWARD. Only showing three set combos instead of prompting players to look at the "Moves List" and teaching the bare minimum, that's very ridiculous and that should be changed. "Bosses" repeating the same lines over an over during the fight, it is so god d*mn annoying that it distracts you from the fight after hearing it 20 f*cking times. End of Chapter 1. PROTECT THE RAM. Yeah, great f*ckin idea with this one, Ubisoft. This was genius. Had it not been super buggy. Area grey when there is nobody around, ram taking full damage from 1 cannonball, ram taking half damage when orange, ram taking full damage when grey, enemies getting stuck inside the ram preventing me from getting to them and the stupid AI from getting out. Friendly AI hitting you WAY TOO HARD, friendly AI just stand there doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING while you get ganged up on by two or three enemies at a time. And not minions, were talking enemy heroes. Not lesser heroes. Full on Raider, Beserker, even Warlord heroes. Valkyrie thankfully are all 1v1s or background battles that you can ignore.

Chapter 2. Same with chapter 1. Only...worse. Much worse. Raider feels clunkier than it did during beta periods. Slower but stronger. And once again, the "boss" fights here, downright ridiculous. Berserker spamming combos, first of all, able to change directions much MUCH faster than, again, than player mechanics will even allow. Kensei "boss", holy sh*t, this one took me a while because, movement, blocking, parrying, regular attacking, was all more than double the speed of player kensei. I've faced my fair share of Kensei during both beta periods, and NONE of them have ever beaten me as fast as your Kensei "boss" in the Viking chapter. This AI's HEAVY ATTACKS were 1.5 faster than Raider's light attacks. Later on, you have to fight, you guessed it, an Orochi. A "boss" Orochi. An Orochi that drops down not one, not two but TTTTHHHHHHRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE clones of himself that all spam the same attack over and over and over again. You can't move, you can't block all of it, so what do you do? You see that little gap in the bridge there and, oh wait, a clear opening, hm. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN INVISIBLE WALL WHERE THIS HUGE GAP TO FIT THREE SHUGOKI IS. The ACTUALY "boss" fight against this guy, feint heavy into a light attack, is literally, twice the speed as player mechanics will allow. I've run Orochi several times during both beta periods. And I've seen people who are REALLY good with Orochi. They can never feint a heavy and hit a light attack as fas as this one "boss" can. He would have to have a major attack speed buff just to do that. If there were anything like that).

Chapter 3. I really have to say I'm thoroughly disappointed with this one. Stuck playing only two classes? Orochi and Kensei? Kensei seems slower than the beta periods, still squishy. Orochi, Orochi is just a mess with the whole neutral guard bullsh*t thing happening. Enemies are suddenly hitting 60% slower now, throwing off your timing from the previous two chapters. The "bosses" here are just like the 2nd chapter. Faster. Much faster, that hit harder, and are able to maneuver themselves much faster than player mechanics allow. At this point, enemies are actually harder to kill, tankier, and deal more damage, and yet, you're unable to upgrade anything. Equipment like you do in Multiplayer, other feats than the use 13 that we're given, can't manually upgrade feats. AND WHY IS THE MAX LEVEL FOR FEATS LEVEL 2?????? WHY NOT 3???
The "boss" fights here feel very rushed and unrealistic, too fast paced for the human brain to even process what's happening 20% of the time. You get ganked by so many enemies, more than your player mechanics will EVER be able to handle. Fighting other Orochi as Orochi is over the top on the "terrible" scale. Where you put your guard just as you block something, any other time you would have blocked, or even parried it, you take full damage, AND THEM SOME. No "unblockable" animation, no orange flame, no white flash, just...attacks that go through your obvious blocks and guards. And once again, your ally AI will all stand there doing nothing while you are fighting several enemies at once. For example. The Orochi and Momiji are infiltrating the Imperial Castle. Every single fight, Momiji just stands there watching you get your sh*t get kicked in. Unless you run by everything to trigger that stupid elephant puzzle ****, she's not gonna do anything but watch you lose. And the last fight of that segment, you fight against 3 kensei and a shugoki. Each of which all immediately target you, and guess what. Your friendly AI all stand around gawking doing absolutely sh*t.

The FINAL assault. Apolyon. This. This. THIS. Has me tilted. I'm not even going to curse, this is how pissed I am. The final assault. You have two options to go about this one. Skip through hitting objectives ignoring enemies, or, don't ignore a single enemy, and hit all the objectives "as intended". Unlike Chapters 1-3, this, the final assault, your enemies have on invisible wall to breach. So you can't just stand back and analyze, or look up a video for tips. They will follow you all across the map unless you kill them. Apollyon's fight. 3v1, Warden, Warden, and Peacekeeper. YOU ONLY DO SO MUCH DAMAGE. YOU ONLY HAVE SO MUCH DAMAGE RESISTANCE. What, exactly are you supposed to do? I'm on this fight now 9 hours with no progress. What exactly are you supposed to do with a class that has Neutral Guard? How are you, a puny little Orochi, supposed to fight a big Warden, on a flight of stairs. All your sidesteps get blocked by walls, backdashes not working due to barricases, rolling away only goes so far because Apollyon blocks your path 97% of the time.

So many things need fixing, and for "Realitic" Difficulty, AMP DOWN THE ACTUAL DIFFICULTY. Because this entire story campaign has done nothing but make me angrier and angrier.

Every boss in the game can be cheesed to hell except Apollyon and the two on top of the ram. Apollyon is a pain in the *** alone. Level yourself up in the story by replaying some levels and get the dmg resistance perk and healing perk. it'll make your life 99999x easier. Honestly, the only gripe I have with the game at all is the Apollyon stairway phase. That stairway needs to be way bigger to justify fighting anything more than Apollyon and only Apollyon up there.

Apollyon was just rooting out the weak. Should have kicked everyone's ***. That orochi only won due to plot armor. It sickened me watching her be defeated by some cockroach.

I have all the perks. The max rank for them seems to be 2. I'm using the heal, and I'm using the 30% damage reduction passive. It's not doing anything for this final fight, and I'm on it since 3pm EST. It's 1am and I've given up.

beat Realitic yesterday. It's not so hard (quite ez though). 1st u grap 4 poison traps and save it for the boss fight. Then use 2 to beat PK and Warden and save 2 for next 2 cutsceens...must use the hit and run and wait for ur cooldown on healing xD

I felt it was fair and pretty fun. You do have Second Wind available to you as well as a passive to lower damage taken.

To be honest fighting Apollyon was easy compaired to that orochi fight on on 3.5 dieing and having to run thouhg the whole level each time was the most anoying thing ever and really needed a cheakpoint at the top because like id run in and basicly run around like a headlest chiken waiting for my alies to kill the ambushers so have full health and feats for the finaly boss witch i still ran around the room like 5 times waiting for feats to come off cooldown =.=but becvause as he said redonk reaction speed from ai being able to block and counter guard break is anoying

on that note of orochi bosses the orochi boss on the brige with the clones what was that charging up move that he did wher he started spining his sword for a redonk heavy hit i wish orochi would be able to do that

only played knights camaign on realistic so far, but it was WAY easier than expected.

the "Protect the RAM" mission was one of the easiest actually... got the RAM through with 100% health.

boss fights are easy, because they mostly use the same slow-ish stuff... just guardbreak -> throw -> double top-heavy /repeat... actually quite boring.

havent had the time to do viking and samurai on realistic (only completed the whole story on normal so far) but i'm looking forward to it.

Easy way to beat every single boss on realistic difficulty: Unblockable perk.

Until the Orochi boss (Tozen I think his name was) none of the bosses in the game will parry you often. Apollyon is a pain still on realistic simply because she hits so hard, but she's pretty easy to beat. Use the peacekeeper and warden as external blocks in order to get revenge mode then go to town with the Unblockable perk and beat her into submission. Yes it's hard, but if it wasn't hard, where is the fun in winning?

Honestly between the Second Wind and Unblockable perks, I had very little trouble with the majority of the story mode. The only reason I struggled was because I'm terrible with warlord, orochi, Valkyrie, and kensei but really good with Warden, Raider, Lawbringer, and Peacekeeper.
