Beware the guide is already ~6000 words and 20 pages.

Should you have burning questions about the raider and I happen to stream:

Otherwise I will answer the questions you have about the raider here in this thread

Have a good one and may you improve.

Edit: Guide updated with a full punishment table, gear selection and more match-up write-ups. Next thing on the list is redoing the videoguide and having example matches against all classes

Thanks for the guide! I have not gone through it all, but I will give it a closer look.

I have also watched your vids on Twitch, and there is one thing I react to; you say a few times you died to being outplayed, when you were not, you simply play Raider, the worst class in the game (no room for misstakes and need to be played perfectly espesially parries, while other classes get easily away with misstakes) and you face off against fast classes that have everything on their side vs the Raider.

You are losing vs all kinds of classes, I do not know your 1v1 win rate, but I am guessing about 60% or so, maybe even lower. If you had been playing one of the easier/more powerful classes, your win rate would have been FAR higher, because you are a good player.

    The thing is:
A good player that learn all the moves etc, will do good on all classes, even the underpowered ones to a certain degree, but will completely stomp 'everyone' on a good class.
A mediocre/new player will do ok on a good class, but will get wrecked on a bad class.

This is always the problem in PvP games and when it comes down to discussions about class balance (and I am getting really tired of seeing the same discussions over and over and over again for every MMO/PvP game I play), people are almost always subjective and do not see it from a neutral/new player perspective.

If you want to see how well balanced classes are, see how new players are doing on the classes. Because on a strong class they will do ok, but on a weak class they will get utterly crushed (as with the Raider).

Everytime I get hit by a warden shoulderbash or shoulderbash cancel into guardbreak, warlord headbutt, orochi top light, orochi zone attack, warden top light, warden zoneattack, warlord zoneattack, conqueror shieldbash and so on nobody is to blame but me. Would my defense be more on point I would not only not get hit and lose momentum/life but I lose dmg on the opponent.

Everytime I tech a guardbreak instead of pressing lightattack to punish the very attempt I fail.

That my friend is the way of improving your fighting game skills.

The raider is a punisher. Yesterday I already ran around and oneshotted ppl out of a single grab. Focus on the progress you do make. Every single time less you get hit by shenanigans is improvement and once that stand you will stand huge as a raider. He does have great fighting capabilities. His attacks are slower and induce easier parries, but what are their punishes compared to ours?

Of course my winrate would skyrocket on chars that have an acceptable offensive game, but that is a crutch. Once your defense is on point it will be on point for all characters and in the meantime if I do get a punish they have the chance to be the hardest hitting ones there are.

    Good to see we agree.

Be better at playing/defense, goes for all classes, of course this is paramount.

You say your win rate would skyrocket on another class, so you prove my point: you are a good player and the Raider is a underpowered class, and on a overpowered class you would do far better. My point exactly!

PS! Would love to practice matches with you (my technic sucks in general, too little time to practice), if its ok by you PM me and you/I can add in Uplay. Of course got mic etc.
