Stuck on load screen after choosing faction | Forums

Hello.
I tried the open beta and played for quite some time without a problem after initial issues with connectivity and uplay. However, after purchasing the game and installing I can only get so far as choosing my faction. After a confirm my symbol/banner/whatever-it's-called the game starts to load... and then is just stuck loading. Steam registers that I've been in game for 64 minutes and I've yet to do anything but create a banner.

Running win 10, amd fx 8370, 16GB ram, more than sufficient hard drive space
