Well can I just ask for help? Im just doing the story mode and this ragnar guy has been killing me for the past hour. All he can do is guardbreak me and run me into a wall. I have no clue how to defend it and its frustrating as hell.
So yes noob, yes asking for help, yes attempting to git gud, so plz help.
Either you guardreak yourself when you see the symbol that he is doing which requires some practise to react fast enough and to get the right timing but is possible. The problem is not the counter window. In fact countering a GB is just as easy as it has been. The window seems to be as soon as the character actually touches you. But the problem is that if you press the GB button at any time after your opponent presses GB, but before the designated counter window, you automatically fail the counter. Even if you were going for a GB yourself and your opponent just happened to hit the button a slight fraction of a second before you did then your "GB attempt" actually registers as a failed GB counter and you automatically fail the counter attempt. This so broken it's ridiculous. Now GB is a complete 50/50 gamble that awards a heavy punish to the winner of the 50/50 guessing game of chicken.
It's especially bad in 1vX situations and GB spam will be an even greater cancer than what people considered it to be now. Constantly automatically failing GB's when you yourself were going for the GB and then getting tossed into hazards is incredibly frustrating as you have little to no control over it especially in outnumbered situations as it's incredibly difficult to notice this window when an external attacker is trying to GB you.
Not to mention how varying connection speeds will have an even greater impact on this as opposed to how it was before. Before you could at least anticipate a GB in addition to your own reactions as you could hit the button as soon as you saw the GB animation start and get a counter.
The window needs to be strictly at the beginning of the character GB animation and made tighter. This way even in varying connection speeds you can anticipate the GB along with quick reactions to successfully counter a GB. All the while countering GB's becomes a little more difficult making GB's more effective in higher lvl play as well. The way it is now is just awful for all levels of play.
You might think it could be ok in 1v1, which it almost is. But Like I said if you and your opponent try to GB at more or less the same time, then whoever happened to hit GB slightly sooner will get the GB and your attempt becomes a failed GB counter giving no more chance to counter the GB. So as I said GB is a complete gamble now it's ridiculous. Imagine an assassin vs say a warlord. A warlord can chunk roughly 35% of an assassins health with one heavy off GB. Whereas the assassin does much less dmaage to the warlord, so his risk for attempting a GB is MUCH higher than that of the warlord so why would he ever want to risk a GB atte,pt when that attempt could very easily through no fault of his own turn into a free GB+heavy on himself that will do much more dmaage than he would have done had he been successful.
Responding to show my agreement. I played in CB and OB and was able to counter guard breaks regularly, if i was anticipating it. Now since launch I cannot counter any, and have spend the last 30 minutes in a lvl 3 bot duel to try and relearn the timings.. its still not apparent and is getting quite frustrating.
Could it also be a network problem. Cause since open beta, I also offten get interupted by GB, even I already startet an Attack, wich should't be able to be interupted by GB. never had this problems in earlyer Tests.
And not just me, I also sometimes interupt others in there attack with a GB, tahts Why I thoght tahts a general Problem since open Beta.
I was apart of the alpha, closed beta, and beta and never had any issues with this. Now since the game came out I cant block any. So these new people who don't know how to do combos exploiting this like crazy. In a game where spamming a move shouldn't help, it seems that spamming guard break wins fights. Please look into this.
A thousand times this. There needs to be an additional window at the start where if both people use it within ~50 ms of each other they counter each other instead of just awarding one of them a 100% uncounterable GB.
