I moved the game files from my z drive which is a windows storage space to another drive y, which is just an additional drive I added to my system but not to the existing storage space. I also reinstalled uplay on the same drive and then verified the files. It booted first attempt.

I found a solution that is working.
Every time you want to play For Honor you need to create a new user account in windows, login to that account and start play the game.
1. Create a new account in windows and set it to administrator (if is not and administrator account will not work)
2. Login in the new account
3. Start Uplay from c/program files/ubisoft/Uplay.exe, then go to Games tab choose For Honor and press PLAY.
Its frustrating that you need to create a new account every time you want to launch the game, but,.. ITS WORKING !!! so,... its better then nothing

Same problem, I bought the game though Steam a day ago. It worked perfectly only once, since then it keep crashing over and over, always few seconds after the tiny "For Honor" screen
Tried a lot of things found in this thread, sadly nothing worked.
I checked my "game_starter_log.txt" (Ubisoft Game Launcher\logs) and noticed some errors such as "Failed to initialize Steam API" or "Child process abnormal exit: -some nuùbers-".
