Season Pass & Heroes - are they free for all but early for pass holders? | Forums

Just been reading up on the season pass and I love what they are doing with the maps and game modes being free for all, but it also seems like maybe the heroes will also be free for everyone just not right away (based on the wording of some articles and sources I could find), can somebody clear this up for me and give me some definitive source about this?

If you have the season pass you don't have to use steel to customize then. They will be unlocked already

In-game seasons are 3 months long. Every season we get 2 new heroes and 2 new maps, confirmed. Season pass holders get those things 7 days earlier and don't have to pay in-game currency, steel, to unlock them.

If you're worried about paying in-game currency to unlock them, don't. They cost basically nothing. You can unlock a character after like... 10 matches worth of steel gain. You can also play ANY character even if you haven't unlocked them. You just can't customize them yet.

You are making the bold assumption that the DLC characters will only cost 500 like the base characters do.

They're following the Rainbow Six Siege model. They will either be exactly the same or very similarly priced and once again, you don't even have to unlock them to play them in ANY mode at ANY time.

Thanks for all the replies guys, honestly I wasn't sure if the heroes would still be free to all excluding the cost of in-game currency anyway. That's pretty great, I love that. I mean ... Even if they cost 2,000 steel per character, at least people can get them eventually without paying more money. I like that.

I just wanted to confirm because it seemed like this was the way it would work.

The cosmetics in the season pass thing are actually pretty cool too though

Even if they cost 2,000 steel per character, at least people can get them eventually without paying more money. I like that.

If it's the same as beta then those new characters will be free for everyone - you wont need to pay any steel to play them. Because in For Honor you can actually play all characters from the start, but if you want to be able to customize them (change colours, armor, weapon and stuff) - then you need to unlock that character with steel.

Ya all the season pass gets you is 7 days early access to new content and you don't need steel to customize. I honestly don't see a value in that so I doubt I will purchase the SP for this game.

Someone did the match and it came out to over 25 hrs of grinding to get the steel needed to be able to customize the characters. I value my time. I don't feel like grinding it out.
